  • The smell of cinnamon is one of my favorite, favorite things about the season. I also love the snow, but of course, I don’t get that here. 🙁

  • Tammy

I like Pumpkin Pie and being with the family.

  • Donna

Decorating the tree together as a family.
Drinking hot cocoa in my favorite spot in my house.
Christmas break – my son is home every day and I don’t have to get up so early.
Smells of yummy baked goods permeating the house.
Fires built in our wood burning fireplace.
That’s a few of my favorite home comforts!

  • Louise

I love decorating too and drinking eggnog

  • Oh great deal! I am a lover of cinnamon and apples, the smell of pine and fresh baked goods in the oven. You can’t go wrong with that warm toasty fire either:)

  • My heated blanket LOL! My husband always gets it out once the weather gets below 60 😉

  • Zippy Sandler

Love your favorite holiday comforts, especially the last one.

  • Anne - Mommy Has to Work

I love the decorations, the lights and just the feel good attitude.

  • Emily

We always need a Christmas tree! Toasty fires are always nice too.

  • Kelly

I agree with everything you said except the snow. Mostly because we don’t have snow here. I do enjoy being outside on the holidays though. And I love the smells of fresh baked goodies coming from the oven and the look on my daughter’s face when she sees Christmas decorations!

  • Shop with Me Mama (Kim)

Definitely the toasty fires in the fireplace, warm blankets, good food and pleasant scented candles!!!

  • cuddling up a warm blanket and a cup of hot chocolate

  • We make chex mix every Christmas – that’s a big one for us.

  • Theresa

I love being with my family, all the yummy Holiday treats, and of course Christmas lights!

  • Alison

I love the Christmas lights. I could just sit in the dark and stare at the tree the whole night 🙂

  • I love a crackling fire … Wish our fireplace was in working order!

  • Sam

I always think of fires too, but we don’t have a fireplace. It must be the influence from the movies, lol.

  • Whitney at It's Gravy, Baby!

I’m with you on almost all of those! I especially love looking at Christmas lights, reading Christmas books, and doing crafts with the kids.

How To Wear Winter White

White is one of my favorite colors for clothes, especially during the winter when it’s cold and snowy out. I love winter white down jackets, cozy white fur boots, soft leather handbags and shoes, and warm variations of white, such as shades of ivory, shimmery pearl, ecru, and creamy off-white. I put together a look […]

  • April Decheine

Love, Love, Love wearing a wintery white this time of the year, I totally have that scarf too 🙂

  • I adore all shades of white but every shade/tone looks horrible on me. Just doesn’t worl for my complexion. I use it a lot through out my home instead.

  • It’s such a classy color, and I absolutely love it. I just make sure when I wear it NEVER to eat Italian dishes.

  • Maybe once the kids are older I could pull something like that off. Right now, no way!

  • Virginia from That Bald Chick

I love winter white on others. I spent so many years in white nursing scrubs that I personally refuse to wear white. At all. It was all my mother could do to get me to agree to a white wedding dress. LOL.

  • love love that sweater with some leggins and boots Oh yes tht would be me

  • nicole @WriteSpell

****love*** of course in Miami winter white is practically a given. Sans the winter part ya know?

  • Marcie W.

I’m also a winter white fan. I adore that sweater dress & that plushy looking hat!

  • I have that scarf or something very similar. That sweater dress is adorable *Want*. Great article on how to wear them winter whites!!!

  • Theresa

Those are great tips! All of those products are beautiful.

  • Kelly

I love the look of winter white! It’s much more flattering to my color than bright white. Another plus is it doesn’t show my dog’s hair!

  • Donna

I LOVE winter white. In fact, I wear winter white in the winter more than I wear white in the summer, I think.

  • Laurie

I dont think im brave enough to wear it lol

  • Alison

I love those earmuffs!! I try not to wear white anytime of the year because I will spill something on it and then stain it. I shun white. But I wish I didn’t have too lol.

  • Jen @ Jen Spends

I’m not sure I could pull it off, but I love white in the winter. The season is dark and depressing as it is – why join it? lol

  • Canadian Mom Blogger

I love it! I never liked the Labour Day rule.

  • Melissa

I’m in love with that Michael Kors bag!

  • Ali from Daughter-in-Law Diaries

You totally inspired me! I wore cream jeans with a cream, black and brown leopard top and it looked great. I also featured you in my Links I Loved this week on Daughter-in-Law Diaries!

The Art Of Regifting

Regifting. It’s a controversial etiquette issue. Is it ever ok to regift, and if so, what are the rules of when and how to regift? I’ve heard the argument that it’s a economical way to give gifts for expensive holidays and celebrations in this economy, and it is ridiculous to throw away something perfectly useful […]

  • Virginia from That Bald Chick

Laughing at your tacky examples. LOL. There are definite ways to regift, and ways to NOT do it. Thanks for the Monday Morning smiles!

  • I’ve always had a problem with re-gifting so I usually just donate the stuff that doesn’t work for us.

  • Jennifer

I don’t see a problem with re-gifting but you provided some great tips. That’s be horrible if someone said “hey didn’t XXX give you that?”! lol. I think I would die

  • Donna

Great tips! I personally have no problem with re-gifting… either as the re-gifter or as the recipient of a re-gift. That’s recycling, and much better than throwing something back in a closet or drawer and never using it, or worse throwing it away to fill up our landfills. Just as long as it’s done with some thought and care, of course. 🙂

  • Tammy

I have been known to regift toys my son used to get. He was never into toys.

  • Mary Williams

I totally agree with you. If you receive something that maybe you don’t need, I think it is totally ok to give to someone you know will use it. I wouldn’t necessarily tell someone it is a regift, if it is something nice and appropriate as a gift for that person, I say go ahead and regift it.

  • I’m kind of amazed at how people are so not slick with their regifting!

  • Marcie W.

GREAT examples! I’m actually regifting some bath & body stuff because I don’t like the fragrance. I’m giving it to my charity child who asked for bath & body stuff!

  • Zippy Sandler

There truly is an art to regifting and you certainly covered it all. Thanks for the smile.

  • nicole @WriteSpell

OHHhh Those are tacky. You’re so right. Promise, I won’t do any. Pinky swear.

  • Shop with Me Mama (Kim)

LMAO at your tacky examples, hahaha! But, some great tips too!

  • Kelly

Great advice! I’d also add that if you don’t follow these tips you’re likely to get yourself in a sticky situation. When I was 18 or 19 I received a gift from a friend, waited a couple of years and didn’t have anything to give her as a gift and accidentally regifted the same item back to her. I was so embarrassed until she admitted she had regifted the item to me from someone else!

  • Whitney at It's Gravy, Baby!

Instead of regifting, I usually just donate any unwanted items. I don’t have anything against regifting, I just can’t stand having items that are useless to make taking up space so I get rid of them ASAP.

  • Alison

I did 3 already!!! They had a Star Wars One Man Comedy Show in NYC… I bought tickets for it… and went with him. I’m not a big Star Wars fan so I didn’t get most of it, but he had a blast and that is what counts. Then when we came out of the show there were Storm Troopers and Darth Vadar outside and he was in heaven! We had to walk through Times Square to get to the theater from where we parked, which he’s never been too. He was amazed about the whole scene of that area. It was so nice to be able to SURPRISE HIM because he didn’t know what we were going to see.. and let him experience something he’s never done before.

Sorry for basically the blog post on your post from me hehe.

  • Anne - Mommy Has to Work

I’m getting my hubby a GPS to go Geocaching!

  • Great ideas! I have been saving up for scuba lessons for my husband (for his birthday). But fir Christmas I am putting together A Date Binder with 12 preplanned dates for each month of 2012. He loves gifts that are intentional and geared toward our relationship.

  • Courtney

Hubby loves Jerseys. Finally bought one last week. He was so happy 🙂
