10 Great Uses For Hooks You May Not Have Thought Of #Organize

Organizing a small space seems difficult, but after you decluttered and whittled your possessions down, it’s easier, especially if you start using your walls for storage. A shelf is one way to organize your apartment or small space, and another great organizing tip is organizing your home with hooks. Wall hooks can organize everything. Here […]

I love these! I really need to do something like that for my purses because right now they are taking up an entire shelf.

  • April Decheine

I am a huge hook organizer LOL another one I use are old knobs. I now collect them! They are used sort of the same way the hooks are. I had my husband attach them to a nice piece of wood that I stained and I sold them in our garage sale last year for $5.00 a piece they sold like hotcakes!

  • I love the idea of hanging the cooking utensils! My cabinets are cluttered with them and its a pain to try and find anything in those drawers. Great post!

  • Tricia @Nightowlmama

Ha so funny cause I use hooks for just about everything you described!! and then some!

  • Anne - Mommy Has to Work

I love them too! Love the mermaid hook.

  • Kelly

Other than hooks for towels, I don’t have hooks anywhere in my home. These are great ideas though – especially for utilizing the space on the back of the pantry door.

  • Love the idea of hanging up kitchen utensils — just genius!

  • You my dear always find the coolest way to re-purpose things! Love the kitchen look 🙂

  • I had a row of them by the backdoor to try and prevent people from stepping onto the floor before they unloaded their garb. It mostly worked.

I use a hook for towels in the bathroom and for handbags in the closet. Great ideas!

  • Virginia from That Bald Chick

I love the hooks for the sports mitts.

  • nicole @WriteSpell

LOVE hooks! I use them in a ton of ways too. Great post!

  • Jennifer The Quirky Momma

I love using hooks for our stuff! Those are some pretty funky hooks, too!

  • victoria palmer

Coffee And Ice Cream: Two Great Loves In One

Coffee and ice cream, ice cream and coffee. I’d say these are two things I’m beyond addicted to, and my husband suffers the same afflication. His favorite ice cream flavor is coffee, so discovering that Starbucks, king of the coffee, is offering coffee-flavored ice cream was…well, there are no words. Starbucks ice cream is available […]

I think I just drooled on my keyboard a little… this ice cream sounds fantastic!

  • April Decheine

I am not an ice cream lover but if that does not look tasty!

  • Have I told you that icecream sandwiches are my absolute favorite? I almost fell out of my chair when I got to the recipe.

PS I am following you on twitter via flgirlmidwest.

  • ohkeeka

I hate coffee, but I love Starbucks ice cream. My husband got it for himself and I had some out of desperation after eating something really spicy and I was shocked that I actually enjoyed it. Those ice cream sandwiches look SO good!

  • 1stopmom

Those Java Chips sandwiches look really good!

  • Crystal @ Simply Being Mommy

    Um, yummy!

  • Shop with Me Mama (Kim)

    Sounds really good!

  • Kelly

I’m digging the ice cream sandwiches. And I love their ice cream. It is a little pricey but lasts a long time since it’s so rich – it doesn’t take much to curb my cravings.

  • Dee @ Cocktails with Mom

The ice cream sandwiiches got my vote. yum.

  • I love this ice cream, and I hate that the Walmarts in my area no longer carry it.

Don’t Wait Your Life Away #Marriage

You’d love to spend more time alone with your spouse … once the kids are grown. One day you’ll take a family trip … after you paid off your house. You love to have the time to take up cooking/dancing/writing … after you’re retired. Right now, you just don’t have the time and money to […]

  • This series is hard for me because I do have a lot of regrets and so does he. I’m not sure we could have changed the outcome anyhow, and for my own sanity and peace, I need to keep thinking that way.

  • Kelly

I think it’s so easy to look to a future moment all the time, but you’re right, you should be living your life and savoring each moment. We can only live for today, no one is guaranteed a tomorrow.

  • Crystal @ Simply Being Mommy

You always have such great advice and make me think. I’ve said plenty of times, “when the kids are older”, but I’ve got to live in the now rather than in anticipation of the future.

  • monique

Your father sounds like a good, smart man.

  • Shop with Me Mama (Kim)

I always enjoy reading your inspirational posts!!! Muah 🙂

  • Mary

This is so inspiring! Unfortunately I have to go to Walmart today, but as soon as that is over….

  • Denise

New follower here. I saw you mentioned on another blog I follow and stopped by. I like the way you write and what you write about. I hope you will take a moment to stop by my blog and check out my kind of fashion (hair jewelry).

  • Anne - Mommy Has to Work

I love reading your marriage tips, thanks!

  • Blond Duck

I guess this applies to me and having kids. I keep saying when we have enough money…when we’ve traveled…when I’ve published a book….

  • Megan

You hit the nail on the head with this one. My grandfather had so many plans for my grandmother and him when he retired. He was buried the day he was to put in for retirement.

  • 1stopmom

What a great reminder Penelope! I have to admit I am one of those people that has a tendancy to *wait*. The reasons you give not to really have me thinking 🙂

  • Great post as always Penelope. My husband and I have lived life to the fullest and never wait. You just never know. I think it is important to do something if you have it in your mind, just do it we always say!

  • Heather

I love the quote I heard on The Big C the other night. “Don’t delay the happy.”

The Great Closet Purge

Fall is almost here, and the time has come to declutter that black hole we call a closet. Things go in and get lost, and you If you feel like you never have anything to wear, the time has come to work on clearing out the junk and creating the perfect wardrobe. You won’t get […]

  • Crystal @ Simply Being Mommy

I definitely have some items that need to be tossed. We just went through the children’s closets and got rid of tons of stuff.

  • Heather

Great advice. I figure, if I lose weight and can fit into X Y or Z when I do, then I deserve a new wardrobe!

  • Alicia

You just motivated me to do this!!! I am way overdue!

  • Kelly

Great tips! My closet looks no where near those in the pics but reading this has definitely encouraged me to purge some more. I keep items with sentimental value and camping/painting clothes all the time and need to break that habit.

  • All of the clothing in my closet is really old, but that’s because I stopped buying clothes since I’ve had kids! Too poor and no time 😉

  • Joanna

Thanks for the info, I seriously need to do this!

  • Jennifer

I absolutely love this post! Great, great tips and advice – especially the #1! I’ve seen people attempt to donate dirty tube socks and old bras! Eeew! And the excuses we use? Oh yes, I so totally relate!

  • Oh girl mine looks like it may have puked over and out the door .. lol

  • monique

I like the 2nd set of pictures the best. I am cleaning out my closet this weekend. I’ve been moved for 2 months and still have boxes, so once the closets are cleaned out the boxes will get sorted, tossed, put in their place, etc.

  • I have a closet cleaning phobia so ours are always gorgeous lol. I actually donate a lot and store end of season clothes. I need some shelving though!

  • Annie @ Mama Dweeb

My husband just purchased like 6 more work shirts, so it is def time to toss out the ones with stains and holes. It always feels so good to get rid of the junk!

  • Jessica

Amen!! Every few months I go through my closet and if I know it’s something that makes me self-conscious because I know it’s not flattering, in good shape, etc. I donate it, or if it’s really hideous, cut it up to use for dusting and cleaning rags. Great way to utilize those 5K Run/Walk shirts that shouldn’t be worn after race day!

  • April Decheine

Been working on my closet for my big move in September, I really need to get rid of some awesome blazers that I think I will take out the shoulder pads one day because it says Ralph Lauren or something fancy inside. Also I have all these beautiful pencil skirts that I just knew would come back in style! LOL

  • You’ve inspired me! I plan on doing this project this week. Thanks for the tips.

  • Kasandria Reasoner

Awww I like that last sweater lol. Seriously I do this quite a lot and every time I end up throwing something away of my husbands and get ito trouble for it lol

  • Shop with Me Mama (Kim)

Great tips. I definitely need to give my closet a makeover!! Oh, and that girl in the picture with the muffin top, that is totally ME!!! LOL..

  • Mother Mayhem

I share a closet with Cap’n Chaos. He never gets rid of ANYTHING. LOL

  • Penelope

I find that reeeaally hard to believe, you hottie 🙂

  • Anne - Mommy Has to Work

I finally got my husband to do some purging!! Now I need to do my side! I love it, though!

  • As much as I know that there should be space between my clothes, I never allow it. My stuff is packed in sooooo tightly!!!

  • Rebel Chick Jenn

I clean my closet out ALL THE TIME. I always donate to the Vietnam Veterans…I am constantly donating my old stuff and clothes that my teenage daughter has outgrown.

  • {Not Quite} Susie Homemaker

    Great post! Cleaning out my closet has been at the top of my to-do list for like, 6 months now. It’s time I finally did it! {and convinced Hubby to let go of his skater clothes from high school…}

  • I just did this when we switched bedrooms and what makes it easier is I heard a rule of thumb if you haven’t worn it in the last yr (and you haven’t been preg than get rid of it your not going to wear it. )

  • Jackie at Color-Coded Organizing

Super tips! I especially love the pictures of what to get rid of. LOL

  • Virginia from That Bald Chick

I try to purge my closet twice a year. It’s been done a bit more frequently this year, though, with the weight loss. LOL.
