A Symbol Of Love

One of the most epic displays of love in the history of mankind is the majestic Taj Mahal in Agra, India. It serves as an example of what was a story of real love. This is the love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. At the age of 17, Emperor Shah Jahan fell in […]

It is a beautiful love story!

  • I didn’t know there was a story like that behind the building. That is really neat! My BIL is there right now, so I hope he gets a chance to see it in person.

  • Theresa

That is a beautiful love story.

  • Wow, now that’s love.

  • Maureen @ Wisconsin Mommy

Thank you for sharing that story – I never knew!

  • Eschelle

one of my fav love stories, nothing could beat it πŸ˜€

  • WOW!! I had no idea. Love the history lesson

  • Toni @ A Daily Dose

The building itself is stunning, I love knowing the story behind it.

  • Heather!

Well, there’s a lot of pressure on my hubby now! Just kidding. I love that story, and the fact that such a love can and does, indeed, exist. It’s also good to think about the ways I show my husband my devotion to him. I may not be able to build him a Taj Mahal, but I should *want* to do!

  • Jennifer

wow that’s a gorgeous picture of the Taj Mahal and a great story

  • Wow how neat is that. Love that photo.

  • Jen @ Jen Spends

This is one place I would LOVE to be able to visit someday. So amazing.

  • Melinda

I knew some of the story but this was a great lesson. I hope I’m loved even small percentage of that

  • Jessica

I heard a little about this on Anthony Bourdain’s show, but had no idea how romantic the inspiration was for it. Le sigh! And I’m sure at a time when that kind of romance wasn’t just shown everywhere the way it is now. I hope his actions inspired others to love so completely.

  • Lolo

I never knew that story. Now I think it is even more beautiful.

  • Jenn @therebelchick

I never knew the story behind the Taj Majal! Wow, that just makes it all that much more impressive!

  • Canadian Mom Blogger

    Great post!

  • Kelly @ Texas Type A Mom

What a great story – I’ve never read this before!

  • Penelope

Most of use can’t afford a Taj Mahal, but it’s the love that we feel that counts, you are totally right/

  • Penelope

It doesn’t hurt to be a good person who deserves it too…the power of a good woman πŸ™‚

I love Marilyn Monroe, but after she got her men, she didn’t treat them that well so none (except for DiMaggio) were there for her when she started to fall apart, but if a woman has good character, and is sweet and feminine, she is more likely to attract a man who is likewise, because water meets its own level.

This is what this story reminds me of. He had no limits, could have had a different woman a day, but his love for her made him limit himself.

  • KONDALA SRINIDHI

SUCH A BEAUTIFUL STORY FEELING TO READ IT AGAIN !!!!!!!!! NOW THAT’S WHAT LOVE IS CALLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Penelope’s Baklava Recipe

In my family we eat, and we eat a LOT. We love pastries, and one favorite dessert that I can’t get enough of is Baklava, a Greek pastry that is a favorite at our holiday parties. It also makes a great hostess or welcome-new-neighbor gift (I fill a decorative plate high with this yummy sweet […]

  • That looks delicious!

  • Looks good, but no pistachios? I dunno!

  • kelley

making right now! how much water?!? am i missing it?

  • Penelope

No water in a baklava recipe (Let me know how it turns out!)

  • kelley

    i failed miserably :/
“6. Combine 1/2 cup remaining sugar, orange juice, and water in a saucepan over low heat…”

  • Penelope

Oh no πŸ™ What happened? Maybe I can help you through it for next time.

  • kelley

other recipes said to cut before cooking. I think that might have been a good plan, my crust was hard to keep in 1 piece. I was only able to back 30-45 min because my crust was getting very golden. The walnuts were dry and wouldn’t stay put when a piece was lifted out of pan. I didn’t see your response and other recipes also called for water so I estimated the water and it turned out super runny. I ended up pouring extra liquid out after it was in fridge overnight, then adding some straight honey to thicken and put back in oven for 25-ish min. I then poured out more liquid and headed to church for our international night potluck! it sat in fridge for a few hours during church. In the end it turned out okay, still crumbly, was hard to dish out. BUT IT TASTED GOOD!

  • Melissa

Is that right…350* for 1&1/2 hours??? Seems really long, for the delicate filo. Im afraid its going to dry up, burn or ruin in some other way. I plan on making this tomorrow.

  • Penelope

This is how I always made it growing up on an old oven, but on my new oven in my new home it was too long, so now I bake it for 50 minutes (I need to update my post- thank you!)

Resolve To Look Younger This Year

Now that I’m 34, I notice fine lines on my face where I smile or frown. Aging may be natural but I’d like to look younger and pretty as long as possible so I plan to fight these early signs of aging. I’ve dabbled in Botox to reduce wrinkles, but it’s expensive and I wasn’t […]

  • Alison

Can I have early aging at 26? I know I’m going to have wrinkles on my forehead. I can already see where they are going to be just how they wrinkle when I make a face. Ugh.

  • I’ve heard of Frownies, and may look into it more. Luckily, I have no lines just yet but when they start coming I’m surely going to want some help:)

  • Tammy

I need to start using something for my wrinkles.

  • Canadian Mom Blogger

I hate that I’m getting wrinkles now πŸ™ I’ll have to try this.

  • Jennifer

I think I need Frownies asap. I am very big on facial expressions and now that I’m in my late 20’s it’s definitely showing πŸ™

  • I have the 11 between my eyebrows, so I might have to try it!

  • Donna

I’ll have to check Frownies out!

  • Zippy Sandler

These have been around FOREVER. I remember my grandmother using them and when I got to review them last year the flood of memories came back.

  • Sheila

Neat!! Never heard of them. Off to check them out πŸ™‚

  • Interesting, never heard of frownies before.

  • Laurie

Interesting product, I don’t pay attention to wrinkles, I figure they are just going to come when they come and there isn’t much I can do about them anyway.

  • the older I get the more worried about wrinkles i become

  • Maureen @ Wisconsin Mommy

I have a huge wrinkles in my forehead – I’m convinced it’s from years of giving my students “the look” by raising my eyebrows. Great for silently curbing bad behavior – not so good for the skin!

  • Anne - Mommy Has to Work

Sounds like something I need to try! lol

  • Amy

I have these issues for sure. I’ll have to check them out. I had never heard of them before.

  • Marcie W.

First, you’re 34?! You look amazing. Secondly, I’m just starting to notice a small bit of light lines at almost 29 and would love to curb them before they get any worse.

  • Kelly @ Texas Type A Mom

I might need to give these a go. I hate the idea of putting toxins into my body but might start considering other alternatives soon. Crying and frowning is not doing any favors to my face.

  • Lolo

I am going to have to try these. I have a line in between my eyes that I would love to get rid of!
