Staying Motivated To Be Healthier In 2013

Today is National Vitamin Day, and it is a great motivator to keep up with my resolutions for 2013- to be healthier and more fit. I’m committed to lose the last of the baby weight this year (permanently), and in a healthy way, by: going for daily walks outdoors- making walking as exercise a habit […]

Having a child with autism that we have been able to almost fully recover simply by treating his body really makes me realize the importance of treating the body correctly and giving it what it needs to function properly.

  • I take daily vitamins, but I haven’t tried VitaMelts. I don’t even know what they are so now I have to google!

  • Vitamins are sometimes underrated, but I can tell that from my own experience, I feel better when I take the right vitamins for my body. NatureMade is a great vitamin that is easily available at my local drugstore.

  • Once I have this baby, I hope I can hurry up and get back to normal. Eating healthier will be my first step.

  • I just picked up some multi vitamins for myself this week!

  • I’ve found it really helps me stay on track with healthy eating and weight loss to take vitamins.

  • We have a same goal! I also hope that till the end of the year I`ve lost my extra baby weight. For a mother of small children it is sooo important to eat healthy and get enough vitamins! I noticed that already with a one child and now when we have a toddler AND a baby it is even more important. In my life this year is one of the most challenging ones to take care of my own health and wellbeing. That`s why I decided to challenge myself to pay attention to my wellbeing every day. All these 365 ways to wellbeing I`ll tell in my blog during the year, one way per day. My “Wellbeing Challenge 2013” has been going on only for a month but already now I notice that it is so worth it! I feel myself so much more energetic when I`ve done something for my (and not only for my children) health and wellbeing on a daily basis ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Taking vitamins was actually one of my biggest resolutions! I’m trying to improve my overall health as well as my asthma through taking vitamins.

  • Good for you for staying committed to your health goals. I take a plethora of vitamins every day!

  • Jenn

We’re on day 11 of paleo and I can’t believe how used to it I’ve gotten already. Just don’t come near me with a cookie cake or Ben and Jerry’s. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • I religious about taking vitamins everyday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Mellisa

I have really tried this past year to make healthier choices.

  • This post couldn’t have come at a better time. I needed the reminder! I’ve been taking a daily walk on the beach with my pup, in an effort to build some stamina that will eventually help me not die when I start back at the gym. ๐Ÿ™‚ My husband and I are trying to eat better, too. We have to constantly remind each other, though.

  • I’ve been making sure to take Vitamin C daily with all the sickies that are going around.

  • Leilani

Now that I’m pregnant again, I’m in the habit of taking vitamins and supplements daily.

  • I always seems to forget to take vitamins.

  • I need to really buckle down and get healthy this year. It has been a long time since I have taken regular daily vitamins, but I really should start again.

  • I can’t wait for it to be warmer.. I need to hit the pavement. We take our vitamins every morning together ๐Ÿ™‚

The 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

This is the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE AWC 4-Door SUV in Mercury Gray and Black: Yes it is gorgeous. It’s also compact, an SUV that isn’t overwhelmingly big or hard to manage for someone who has been driving sedans her whole life and finds SUVs intimidating. I drove the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport for the […]

  • This is a nice looking ride there!

  • What a gorgeous vehicle!

  • Mellisa

What an awesome car. I really love your first picture, it looks like it came straight out of a magazine ad.

  • That looks like a really nice car!

  • Jenn

You should see my bumper. The back-up cam is a necessity. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • What a sweet ride!! We will need to find a new SUV for me once my daughter begins driving mine next year. I will keep this one in mind!

  • I was just telling my husband last night, that I think all vehicles should have back up cams… They’ve saved so many lives!

  • That is one gorgeous SUV, I especially love that affordable price tag.

  • We’re dying for an SUV. Love the sleekness!

  • Leilani

I like the look of the Outlander and will keep it mind the next time we need a car. Thanks for following me on Twitter.

  • Jennifer The Quirky Momma

  • Donna

It looks like an awfully nice ride! I’ll keep the Outlander in mind when we’re in the market for a new vehicle.

  • Great review!

We Finally Entered The Modern Tech Age. And Our Sons Already Have Us Beat.

A month before my second son was born, my husband bought me an iPhone 4S. It was my first smart phone ever, and we got it because I needed a good camera and my seven year old phone took the grainiest pictures ever (evidenced by the disaster we called photos of our first son when […]

  • I want an iPad!! The cases are very important with the little ones around!!

  • Jenn

I need something like this for our windows phone. It’s only a matter of time before the kids destroy it!

  • We all use Otterboxes in our house – all three iphones and both ipads. I am hoping they make one for my new Acer tablet soon!

  • Maryann

I think my hubby has an Otterbox, he is really tough on his phone and his cases.

  • I absolutely love my Otterbox!! By far the best cell phone case I have ever had and it’s great to see they are making them for tablets as well.

  • With the littlest ones like that, it’s a darn good thing all your goodies are locked inside Otterbox cases.

  • I think I’m going to have to buy a secret tablet that no one knows about in my house so that I can use it for myself. Every time mine is charged, the boys grab it, and its gone again! Definitely need an otterbox!!

  • Mellisa

I my Otterbox. It has save my iPhone and iPad more than once from being destroyed.

  • That’s too cute that they both have iPads! I have one but my son uses it way more than I do.

  • I should probably get one of these for my Samsung. I’ve only heard good things about Otterbox.

  • I so so agree. Otterbox is armor! They are quality products that really work to keep our technology protected! Super cute pictures and love the pink case on your mini!

  • I can’t wait till their waterproof case comes out!

  • I have an otterbox for my ipod and I LOVE it!

  • Otterboxes seem like the ultimate line of defense for your gadgets. I love the vibrant colors too!

  • I love my otterbox case.

  • love my otter box case.

  • I want an iPad! LOL

  • Awww that so cute. Goo is finally getting an iPad mini too. I can’t wait to pick and choose her apps.

  • Donna

I just recently got an Otterbox for my iPhone 5, but need to get one for my iPad, now.

  • Kids really do catch on to electronics so fast these day don’t they?

  • I need to look to see if they have one for my sons Kindle Fire.

  • I love the pink otterbox! So cute.

  • We actually have Otterbox on all of our iPhones, I would have destroyed it long ago without it!

  • I can easily vouch that Otterbox rocks! My mother accidentally ran over her iPhone, and it wasn’t damaged in the least, thanks to the Otterbox. Sadly, the Otterbox wasn’t the same, but at least it saved the phone! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • What great cases.

  • I so need one of those iPad cases. My boys are rough on it!

  • ooh. I just got a mini too! I need that pink case like ASAP!

  • I have to check these out. Especially with the baby playing with my iPad.. I mean hers now lol

  • My daughter is off playing with her iPad right now. She escapes every now and again and does her letter apps.

  • Isn’t it amazing how our kids know more then we do sometimes? Or are introduced to technology at such a young age? As for the Otterbox it is an AWESOME case!

  • I LOVE how the Otterbox looks on both the iphone and ipads. I want one for both of my toys too!

  • Meghan @JaMonkey

    I swear its hardwired now

Learning To Give Back

I recently developed a great love for photography. I freely admit that the main reason is because I want to beautifully document our lives, my sons growing up, our family memories and special events. I’m a beginner in this craft, but it’s a worthy goal to want to excel at something that can bring a […]

  • I never knew of such an organization. I would love to help them out- but I’m not a professional by any means- just a girl with a fancy camera that loves to experiment with artsy shots. Thanks for the info!

  • I am glad you told us that is not a baby from the NILMDTS program. I was thinking how gorgeous and perfect a baby it was! And about to cry for the loss.

  • Penelope

I wouldn’t have taken a photo of one of those poor sweet babies just to use here (seemed inappropriate) and I know what you meanโ€ฆI cried when I saw them on their site, and that’s when I knew I wanted to offer this to those parents. Those babies are so sweet and perfect and I can’t imagine the pain their parents felt ๐Ÿ™

  • I donated my wedding dress to a company that turns it into burial gowns for infants who passed. I couldn’t imagine that pain.

  • What a beautiful way to give back. I had never even heard of these programs but I’ll be watching out for ways to help them {other than photography because I’m definitely not skilled enough}.

  • You take beautiful pictures and this is a great cause. I think I would find it so hard to do though.

  • That would be a wonderful to give back.

  • I too have a soft spot for children’s organizations. I’ve never heard of Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, but seems like a fab organization for families. You are truly amazing, Penelope and your practice will only make you perfect!

  • Jenn

I wish I could have contacted NILMDTS for my SIL. Her baby lived 2 weeks and they knew as soon as she was born that she’d never come home. We only have one picture of her.

  • Penelope

I never heard of this, but what a wonderful organization. If you know the name can you share it? I think this is something I would like to do.

  • Penelope

Me either, it’s going to take me at least 3 years of study and working to be considered. They only want excellent photographers with experience, because you only really have one chance to do this and these parents deserve the best photos of their children. I’m motivated though, and in the meantime I can help them in other ways.

  • What a wonderful way to bless others!

  • THis is such an awesome gift to give grieving parents. You’re going to do wonderfully!

  • What a touching, beautiful way to help others. After all, photos are simply visual reminders of our memories.

I knew I wasn’t going to keep my dress for a daughter I didn’t know I’d have. So I cut the straps off, and saved my veil, but sent my dress in. I’m happy I did. I can’t remember the name of the place I sent mine into, but a quick google search returned this one, and it looks pretty familiar. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Oh! I found the article I used to find where to donate – here is that link bc it has a lot of great ideas… but the place I actually donated was Heavenly Angels In Need.

  • Penelope

    Thank you!

  • What a great idea. When my stepfather was diagnosed with terminal cancer we had photos taken. It was a hard day but we are so glad we did.

  • wow, I’ve never heard of anything like this but how beautiful. I really want to look into it. I’m not a professional but I would love to use what skills I have to give back to families.

  • such a great program and I couldn’t handle the loss of a child.

  • What a beautiful way to give back.

  • That is a wonderful way to give back!

  • What a sweet organization. You are doing great with your photography!

  • I love that people are willing to donate their time and their talent to such a worthy cause.

  • Donna

I wish I had a better eye for photography. Luckily my husband does, so at least we do have some nice candid shots of my son throughout his life so far. I’ll share this with my b-i-l, he has had his photography featured in magazines, and sells his photographs.

  • Penelope

Wow, you are so lucky to have two people to help you if you are interested in photography!

  • Giving back is so important. There never seems to be enough hours in the day to do everything, but it’s amazing how you can find small ways to give back all around you.

  • What a lovely and thoughtful goal. So often when babies don’t make it home the parents have so little that is concrete to memorialize their children with…. just their broken hearts.

  • What an amazing organization. I can imagine how helpful this would be during the healing process of their loss.

  • I have a love for photography, but need to learn how to use my dslr in a mode other than auto. I think taking pictures for organizations that help children is awesome!

  • Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep sounds like an amazing organization.

  • What a great thing they are doing.

  • You have such a big heart, Penelope. This just made me love you all the more! I have to look into this organization and see if there is some way that I can contribute!

  • What a wonderful idea. Your pictures are beautiful and that would be a beautiful thing to do with your skills.

  • You are so incredibly generous. I need to start giving back..

  • what a great way to give back to the community I would love to enhance my photography skills

  • Maryann @ Matthew's Puzzle

    That is amazing.

  • what a great lovely post and goal.

  • Beautiful pictures!

  • I love the look of black and white photos.

  • Jenn

  • WOW. Love these pictures! Your son is soooo adorable!

  • Penelope

  • Megan @ That Neat Blog

    Beautiful! You take awesome pictures.

  • Stunning! Love your little man’s eyes!

  • Beautiful I love black and white photos!

  • I love the bridge one!

  • I love black and white photos!

  • Stunning pictures, as always!
