The Golden Hour

I spent an evening at our local park with my sons this weekend, and I realized something while they were playing. They aren’t babies anymore. My littlest dude runs off, climbs, inspects…and unlike his older brother, he never looks over his shoulder to see if I’m watching him, safely nearby. He’s independent and growing up […]

  • It does go by fast. My daughter informed me yesterday that she doesn’t want to play with dolls anymore πŸ™

  • I know just how you feel. My oldest turned 13 this summer, and I find myself so proud of the man he is growing up to be, but so sad that each day takes him farther away from being my little boy.

  • It is so crazy how fast time goes by. Cherish every moment just like you already are!

  • These are such gorgeous photos! You’ve got an eye for framing and capturing the perfect shot. The time does go by way too fast and makes me sad too. I can’t believe my daughter will be starting kindergarten next year and my baby is a climber and explorer too.

  • Hugs, they grow up way to fast. My kids didn’t want to go to the beach this weekend and when I said something about taking another cruise soon my oldest was not too keen on it. SIGH!

  • My baby turned 2 today … so I get the bittersweet nostalgia over the every hastening growing years. πŸ™

    Fantastic golden hour shots. πŸ™‚

  • My kids are much older and they still love going to the park, however, they only like going by themselves and not with mom.

  • my kids love spending time at the park even my 12 yr old as long as she can bring her bike. Hang in there mama making memories is what’s important and your photos show it all

  • It seems like mine was little like him just yesterday. All we can do is savor the moments and take pics πŸ˜‰

  • I can’t believe that I’ll have a 1st grader and a 4th grader in 3 days!

  • I think you have many years left, but this made me cry because it does just go too quickly!

  • Aww, I totally get that. My son turned 4 last week & starts preschool next week so I am very nostalgic. It’s so bittersweet when they are growing up so fast.

  • I’m thinking you’ve got a good long time yet until they’re over the park fun!

  • *sniffle* It’s amazing how quick they grow up when some days are sooooo long. πŸ™‚

  • Aww… you have a good many years yet Mama, no worries they do grow up fast but live in the moment πŸ™‚

  • Donna

I’ve been feeling this way a lot, lately. My started 5th grade last week and the thought of him starting middle school next year, makes me so sad. It seems like yesterday I was bringing him home from the hospital after having him. I know it’s said time and time again… but it really does go by so fast. We just have to cherish every moment.

  • Probably around the age 10-11. That’s when my son stopped wanting to go with us.

  • Aww sweet photos. Gavyn age 11 still likes the park but more for climbing the equipment. Zoe wants to go to swing for hours.

  • How absolutely precious! Glad that you’ve “got his back.”

  • Jennifer @ MySweetSanity

It goes by so very fast! My group ranges in age from 4-20. My 20-year-old son barely spent anytime with us this summer. He had an internship, friends and his girlfriend of three years to take up his time. I can’t even plan a family vacation anymore. I also got sad this summer when my only daughter, the 4-year-old grew out of toddler clothes.

  • It’s really scary how fast it goes by when you sit back and have a realization like this. It’s an amazing journey though and we just have to savor every single second with these little humans before they don’t want to be seen with us anymore, lol.

  • They do grow up all too fast but I have realized with each new phase comes new perks, benefits and a ton a fun! It softens the blow of time a bit.

  • Jennifer @ The Quirky Momma

They really do grow up fast. I look at my ‘baby’ and he’s starting first grade in a couple weeks. It feels like I just had him! My ‘little’ girl just turned 13 and now I have two teenagers, and 8 year old and a 6 year old. Time flies.

  • Awwww, just remember they will always be your babies. Even when they are taller then you πŸ˜‰

  • It’s terrifying and sad how fast they grow up my little ones are already 3, 5 and 7. Oh and beautiful pictures Penelope!

  • They do grow up so very fast. I can’t believe how quickly time goes by.

  • They really do grow up too fast – love the picture of him on the slide!! I feel because the moments go to fast I’m so thankful to be a sahm.. I get to enjoy each and every moment.

  • Angela S

The kids are growing up much too quickly. I try to cherish every moment.

  • Time flies when you’re a parent. I’ll be sending my oldest off to 1st grade next week and I just can’t believe it. It’s rather surreal!

    Your boys are ADORABLE.

  • Angela S

I’m glad you are cherishing these special moments. They are gone much too quickly.

  • At 11 my son still enjoys the occasional day at the park – so them growing up isn’t all bad πŸ™‚

  • It really is scary how fast the time flies. I try to enjoy every moment and you should as well. It’s like a blink of an eye.

  • Time definitely goes by way too fast when you have kids. It makes me so sad that my newborn is already 3 weeks old. πŸ™

We Are Messy, Messy, Messy #ResolveMyStain

In this house live two little boys. Both are very messy. Messy boy #1 likes to play in dirt. Messy boy #2 likes to play with food. Resolve Laundry Stain Remover is good. Resolve saves our clothes. Resolve saves my sanity. Before I had children, I really didn’t have a need to pre-treat my laundry. […]

  • I never pretreat but wish I did sometimes! I have great results with another product but love REsolove for floor stains!

  • I go through a lot of Resolve in my house as well. My little girl gets EVERYTHING on her.

  • I have two messy, messy boys as well and always spray clothes before tossing them in the hamper. Seems moms of boys should buy stock in stain remover πŸ˜‰

  • I think it works really great too. I’m all about the pre-treat and let it sit until laundry time. So nice!

  • I don’t believe I have ever used this brand, but it sounds wonderful.

  • I don’t pretreat but need to start. Sweet T is the nastiest, grossest eater in the world! She can be a such a girly-girl then mealtime comes and she turns into a Neanderthal. Her clothes (and hair) prove it.

  • With a house full of mainly boys and men I always need to pretreat our clothes and Resolve works great!

  • I know all about messy boys! I also keep Resolve in my laundry room to get out all of the stains!

  • Jennifer @ The Quirky Momma

I have four messy, gross kids and I use about 1 bottle of Resolve per month. I just used it today because my youngest smeared yogurt all over me when I got home. Yuck!

  • Food stains are the worst problem in our home, I really need to start wearing an apron when I cook and bake!

  • Donna

I always pre-treat with Resolve. I’d never get the stains out if I didn’t.

  • Mellisa

My kids are always coming home from school with stains. I need to have some of this on hand.

  • I just discovered Resolve Pre Treat too and it is a miracle worker! It got a 4 day old ketchup stain out of my daughter’s shirt that I was sure would be there forever!

  • I always have some Resolve in the house. It comes in very handy with messy kids and messy pets.

  • Half of the time I miss the stains because kids just through them in the laundry.

  • I pretreat when I can .

  • I haven’t used Resolve before, we usually just pretreat with Shout and then wash with Tide.

  • I have been using Resolve for years and it has saved countless clothing items! I try to pretreat any stains but pouring a bit directly inside loads of laundry really works well too.

  • I don’t think I pretreated an article of clothing once before having kids but yes, I use it all of the time now!

  • I love Resolve, it really is a lifesaver with the mess that four boys can make on clothes.

  • I need to get some of this, I feel like B always has ring around the collar.

  • Resolve really works!

  • I’ve never pretreated before, I usually just throw stuff on and wash it.

  • We go through a LOT of Resolve in this house — clothes, carpets and the dog’s blanket.

p.s. I love listening to your accent. It’s so different than what I hear in Texas. πŸ˜‰

  • You know we don’t use stain remover much, but I love your tips!

  • Penelope

    I love your accent too!

  • I love Resolve. I keep it handy underneath my bathroom sink. I am a messy gal.

  • I have two messy, messy, messy girls and although I’ve never tried resolve before, it sounds like the perfect solution for my messy girls.

  • Angela S

I always keep a bottle of Resolve in the laundry room.

  • I do pretreat when I catch it! Sometimes they get by me.

  • I pretreat on occasion but the brand I’m using hasn’t been working quite the way I’d hope. I’ve tried Resolve on my carpets but never on my clothes before – I’ll definitely check this out!

  • This worked wonders on our soy sauce stains. I was very impressed.

  • I also spray the stain before putting it in the hamper. If I can, I immediately put it in the wash if I have enough clothes to make a load.

  • I hear ya on the stains. I hate them and I love resolve

Second Shooting #Photography

I recently attended a baptism in a way I never have before…as the photographer. Well, not the photographer, but the second shooter, the photographer who shoots around the main photographer and sort of fills in the blanks while the main photographer does all the heavy lifting. My friend Mark is a professional portrait photographer who […]

  • The cilantro totally threw me. I am not a big hot dog fan but the combo with the beans and tomatoes sounds interesting.

  • Hot dog salad… now that is what I call a carnivore’s delight.

  • What an exciting summer it has been! Your boys are just so cute. And yes, I trust the Hebrew National quality, they are delish!

  • I like that they have no filers. Now if they will only make them without nitrites. πŸ™‚

  • Oh my gosh – little man jr.’s pick in the barber chair is priceless!! I love it! We’re actually having Hebrew Nationals for dinner tonight, it’s our favorite brand of hot dogs!

  • Mellisa

I love Hot Dogs but I have never tried them in a salad. Sounds great.

  • Jennifer @ The Quirky Momma

When I make that for my family, I won’t call it ‘salad’ because to them, it means ‘super healthy momma food.’ Perhaps they’d like Hotdog Delight???

  • Ooh that sounds like a great recipe! I love anything with cilantro. &What a great summer! That haircut picture is just too cute.

  • Sounds like an eventful summer of “firsts” so awesome to be in a new house.

  • What a wonderful summer! I love me some hot dogs, will have to try this.

This post is making me hungry for hot dogs and I just finished breakfast….what’s up with that? lol!

  • I’ve never heard of a hot dog salad, but this sounds pretty tasty. Something’s telling me we’ll be seeing this in the near future.

  • So many firsts for your family this summer. How exciting.

  • That hot dog salad would make a fun side dish for a bbq. You captured some great moments of your kids this summer!

  • Jake

The end result is a little sweet, deeply flavorful, and positively melts in your mouth. This exact hot dog is one of my favorite things about summer. I look forward to my first one every year.

  • This summer has gone by way too fast! I can’t believe your youngest has already gotten his first haircut. My girls have such fine hair that my oldest was 4 before she needed one.

Having Fun Living a Healthy Lifestyle With My Family

We are a healthy family here, from eating a mostly organic diet, to spending time outdoors in the fresh air and sun, being active and social. Being healthy is a part of who we are, and reaching for all-natural products and taking the stairs (always- even up seven flights) is just second nature to me. […]

  • These look good and tasty. perfect for school lunches!

  • Sometimes is seems like all we do is snack! That’s why it’s so important to make healthy snacking choices.

  • I love the new look of Simply Balanced. I buy it all the time at my home away from home Target!

  • I’ve seen some of these products at Target, but as of yet we haven’t bought any, I think I should try some. Right now I’m trying to substitute water for pop and juice….

  • Man! I was just at Target today. I wish that I had seen this post – I would have bought some. I will be sure to look for them next time.

  • I just noticed these last week when I went to Target and was wondering if it was their new brand. Those bars look amazing.

  • We buy everything organic and rarely shop the inner sections of the supermarket. All fresh πŸ™‚

  • Donna

We do a lot of hiking as a family, and my husband and son bike.

  • I love the price point on those and I just picked up a few things too. I didn’t see the yellow corn chips, but I saw blue ones!

  • They look good, this post just reminds me of how terrible I’ve been eating. Love the tip for exercising.

  • I have made some major strides recently in living a healthier lifestyle. I like your suggestion to keep exercise fun. I often look at physical activity as a chore, instead of a fun activity.

  • I love organic food, so I definitely need to try this brand sometime.

  • These are my types of treats! We’ve been enjoying the great outdoors. It hasn’t been hot so it has been perfect for the kids!
