Play & Dream In The World of Eric Carle

I read my son a story every night, and some of his favorite stories are by Eric Carle. He loves The Very Hungry Caterpillar (he even watches it on tv) and discovering that Gymboree is offering a limited collection of Eric Carle playwear and Eric Carle sleepwear was incredible. For us, the World Of Eric […]

  • My nephew loves those books and your boys are too adorable!

  • How cute are those outfits..love Gymboree

  • That is such an adorable line!

  • I adore that line of clothes and sleepwear. The Gymboree pj’s were my favorites when my babies were little. I’ll be picking some up with an Eric Carle book for a baby shower gift!

  • I love Gymboree clothes. I can remember being a small little girl and my Dad taking me there to go buy clothes. Wow does that show how long they’ve been in business or what? They provide quality clothes at a reasonable price.

  • I really like this line of clothes. I’ve bought some for my grandkids.

  • I love this line, I loved reading all the books, hungry caterpillar is my favorite as a kid!

  • I just adore his books. Everything about them is wonderful, so I love that it’s spreading to nighttime apparel!

  • I love Eric Carle. I have his entire collection in my classroom.

  • What an super adorable line!

  • My daughter LOVED Eric Carl and we borrowed all his books at the library. BTW he is getting so big!

  • What a great contest! I think Eric Carle’s work fits perfectly with the style of Gymboree.

  • I absolutely love Eric Carle and would totally wear this merchandise myself. I’m surprised there hasn’t been apparel modeled after his books before now.

Back To School: Making It Fun

Back to school time in many families is a time of excitement, poignancy, and relief. New experiences for our kids, feelings of wistfulness that they are growing up, and realizing we will have a bit more time to ourselves are all thoughts that cross our minds at once, so it’s no surprise we can feel […]

  • What a great idea to get fun school supplies. When I let my daughter choose silly prints, they make her smile whenever she has to use them.

  • Picking out school supplies was a big deal for me as a kid. I remember how fun it was to take all those fun supplies to school!

  • I agree with the lunches. Bentos weren’t a big thing when our daughter was in school, but those Lunchables were. So I would buy or even make my own on occasion and the smiles and thank yous I got when she was home at the end of the day were priceless. I know that they made her afternoons at school better too just because those little lunches perked up her disposition and attitude. Crackers & Cheese….who knew?! lol.

  • Being involved in everything is so important. I’ve worked in the schools on and off for many years helping children that need help in all areas. Parents need to work with children so they can enjoy school and understand what is being taught. I really wish I could get into making bento lunches for Zoe because they are so much fun.

  • These are some great tips. My granddaughter started 1st grade this year. 🙂

  • Good tips. Some of those get harder to do as the kids progress through the higher grades.

  • I think the Bento boxes are so cool! When school supplies come out I pick up some cool ones for my office too!

  • Great tips, I used quite a few of them.

  • Those are some great tips. I love the idea of fun lunches, it gives them something to look forward to!!

  • My daughter loved going shopping for back to school. My son – not so much. Not sure anything can make a teenager like school.

  • Those are some great tips. Picking out new clothes and school supplies is always a huge thing with the kids.

  • As an empty nester, I don’t have to worry about getting school stuff anymore. But I do get some for my grandkids.

  • These are all really good tips. My kids and I love to shop for back to school supplies. My husband gets frustrated because we always have a house full of supplies.

In fact, our local Walmart had Preschool workbooks available for 3.00 which is a HUGE savings. I snagged one up for Zeva for her to do with my mother-in-law (she does Preschool with the kids and then I take over in K.)

  • My mom worked at my elementary school, so I was pretty spoiled having my mom around all of the time. Showing you care about their school makes such a difference in their attitude about school.

  • I was at my son’s elementary school so much that the ladies in the office would kid and say I should be on the payroll. 🙂 It’s weird now that my son is in a much smaller Christian middle school and parents are need no where near as much. I have mixed feelings about it. 🙂

  • Great tips, being involved is so important. It’s gets a little harder when they’re older and don’t want you there so much.

  • As always, you offer such wonderful suggestions! Being involved in a child’s schooling activities can help make a tremendous impact. 🙂

  • These are great tips, I try to let my kids pick out fun supplies.

  • Oh, I love the Bento boxes! They make lunch more fun! 🙂

  • These are all great suggestions! We always have a pizza party the night before school starts and shopping for new school supplies is always a lot of fun for us too.

First Day Of Kindergarten…And The Fun Begins!

I’m not totally sure who was more nervous about my son going back to school, but honestly I think it was me. My son was nervous, but excited to don his school uniform, complete with jacket and tie, and head off to school on his first day. He returned home at the end of the […]

My son is only one and a half right now, so we don’t have any school memories yet. And I’m certainly in no hurry to get there either! I totally understand now how people say that your kids grow up too fast. I love the Jansport Sockeye Navy Moonshie backpack. I always used Jansport backpacks as a kid, so I know how reliable they are. Natico Originals Two-Tone Insulated Lunch Bag, Blue is a cute and simple lunch bag, and it’s great that it’s insulated.

  • Nicole

My favorite memory of my child’s first day of school, is when I sent my son off to his first day of school ever, he didn’t want me to leave, it was so cute. Being able to share a new beginning and step with my son was awesome. But now he is in first grade this year, and when I took him this year to school he didn’t even notice I was there or anything, he was totally independent, and a lot more social. It’s such a wonderful feeling as a mom to see how your kids grow through school. I would like the Licensed TMNT Dome Lunch Bag and the Airbac Curve backpack in green.

This year was my favorite back to school. My son started first grade in a new school and I was able to drop him off, give him a hug, and send him in to start a new year. My favorite memory is funny but not funny. My house is on a busy road, so the 1st day of school on his way home, my sons bus driver had to pass our house to turn around (so he’d be dropped off in our driveway instead of on the side of the busy road) My son started bawling his eyes out to a 5th grader next to him about how they forgot to drop him off. The bus driver had to explain why my son was crying after he got off the bus his first day of school. LOL! So sad he was scared, but so cute. What an awesome story to tell him. Zion says he likes the Reebok Razzel Dazzle Backpack and lunch box! 🙂

My favorite first day of school memory was DD’s first day of kindergarten. Her dad and I had recently separarated and I had made her back to school dress. Never had sewn anything before. It was an A-line with images of ABC’s, busses, numbers and giant red ric-rack. It was so awful but she loved it and thanked me for her special dress as she skipped into the school.

My favorite memory is actually of this year. He didn’t cry! He has cried for the first two years. But this year, going into second grade, he didn’t. I know it is because he is finally used to his school, the bus, his friends, and being away for 8 hours a day. The natico originals two tone Insulated lunch bag in black is stylish. The JanSport super break backpack in ombré floral is my favorite.

  • Jessica H.

  • My memory isn’t necessarily a good one, but it’s one we won’t forget! It was my sons first day of 2nd grade, and he was NOT excited to go. We were at the bus stop and as soon as he saw the bus coming down the road, he started to get really upset. Crying, whining, and ended up getting so upset that he threw up! On the street! I wasn’t about to put him on the bus then! So we went back inside, had a good talk about it, and then I brought him to school. He never did it again. I don’t know what upset him that much, but he seemed to be totally over it the next day!

Maybe he would’ve had a better start to the school year if he had the Airbac Groovy Backpack, Camo, and the Natico Originals Two-Tone Insulated Lunch Bag, Black!

My son upon entering 1st grade after a break from Kindergarten decided that we should do school always including summers because “that’s where we learn more!” which is apparently still pretty cool. I’m glad his teachers are instilling a love of learning! Orange is his favorite color so he might like the one from High Sierra.

  • Jamielee Kimball

My Kindergarten memory is quite fresh in that my only child just started Kindergarten two weeks ago. In the morning, right before we left the house, she put her hand on my shoulder and said, “Don’t miss me too much mom, I’ll be back”. It was the saddest/happiest moment in my life.

For the backpack, I would choose the Samsonite Vizair Laptop Backpack in Silver/Pink. I think this one would be good for my little one next year, and seems good enough quality to hold up for a while. For the lunchbag, I would choose the Cypress Botanica Insulated Lunch Bag with Metal Handle, because my little one likes it.

My daughter would love the J World Sundance Rolling Backpack; Pink and my son would love the Natico Originals Insulated Cooler/Lunch Bag, Red .

New Car Shopping + Cars.com Is Going To Help Someone Pay For Theirs #NewCarFace Contest

Sponsored by Cars.com We are shopping for a new car, because my beloved Toyota Camry is now 13 years old. It’s still running well, but I noticed it cough a bit last winter a few mornings. Since we are going to be heading out into the world on many cold winter days this year for […]

  • I love how cars.com is straight to the point, can’t wait to see what you buy.

  • This is such an awesome contest. It took us 5-6 years to pay off our car but this could have saved us all those years of payments!

  • What was that salesperson thinking? That’s ridiculous. Winning $25K towards a new car will go a long way!

  • We’ve had the chance to test drive a few new vehicles this year, and I totally get what you’re saying about your car…because mine is 16 years old! I would love to win that dough to get me a new one as I’m coveting those new ones we’ve had a chance to drive just a little bit (oh who am I kidding, a lot!)

  • I love this contest. You look good in that car.

  • That would be an awesome prize, specially since we just bought two new cars this year! Good Luck on your car hunting and purchasing.

  • I would love to win that. Then I could buy the 2-seater sports car and look cool. 🙂

  • We’ll be looking for a new car soon, so I’ll definitely be checking out cars.com.

  • Is it weird that I’ve never test driven a vehicle without someone else being with me and I’m thinking about test driving a car soon by myself, but am nervous about it. LOL!

  • Whenever I do get a new car, I assure you my new car face will be giddy beyond belief! I am so over the one I’m driving. Actually I was over it the moment I got it.

  • Buying a new car can be a challenge. I remember buying one three years ago. Good luck with your decision.

  • Penelope

I feel the same way! My husband says “I’ll watch the kids and you check out the car” and I get totally scared at the prospect.

  • I haven’t seen cars.com before. I’ll check them out when I’m ready for a new car.

  • We will be looking for a new car in the next year too. I hate car shopping. I would love to win one! 🙂

  • This is my kind of contest, thank you for sharing about it so I can go and enter! And love your car face!!!

  • We’re looking for a car for my daughter and I’ll definitely be checking out Cars.com.

  • I would love to get a new car but we have to wait another 2 years.

  • What a great promotion, it’s fun to test drive new cars. I’m hoping the salesman wasn’t serious about selling you the convertible!

  • We recently got new (for us :)) car, it still is not big enough for us but I know exactly what you are going through!

  • My husband needs a new car & a new car face. He’s been driving the same car for too long & it doesn’t even fit all of the kids. So we have to swap any time he’s going to take all 3 of them. Cars.com save us!
