Favorite Things, Even Better

This post brought to you by Wrigley Jr. Company. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Penelope’s Oasis. Amusement parks, play dates with cousins, chewing gum— these are the things that excite my children. Unintentionally, I made chewing gum a rite of passage when my son first asked to have gum when he […]

  • I put some of this gum in my kids stockings this year and it was a huge hit!

  • vaness

This was so hard to find but so worth it as we love it too!

  • Donna

I have a Juicy Fruit addiction. I can’t wait to see the Starburst flavor… Yum!

  • Jenn

I didn’t know this was even around, how cool!

  • Billie

I’m sure I would love this, I’ll have to see if it’s around.

  • HilLesha

It has been ages since I’ve chewed gum, but these new flavors sound delicious!

  • Marcie W.

My kids love gum and usually chew a piece every day after school, in between snack and dinner. I think they would really enjoy these fun flavors and I appreciate them being sugar free.

  • Kait

These look like, super great flavors — I’ll have to head to my target to check it out. 🙂

  • Tammy

I’m going to have to pick some packs up the next time I’m out to mail to our daughter at college. She always likes getting treats like this in the mail!

  • Anne

Mmm, I love Juicy Fruit Gum! I bet that cheery flavor is delicious!

Cold Weather Blues + Real Relief

This post brought to you by Chloraseptic®. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Penelope’s Oasis. As a mom, nothing is worse than seeing my kids feel bad when they are sick, and I’d do anything to take their pain away. If they are feeling poorly and snuggle up to me, I want […]

Yes, we always have Chloraseptic spray in our medicine cabinet. I love that stuff. Works wonders.

  • Jenn

I remember using this when I was little, it always worked like a charm. Luckily this year my kids have not gotten really sick just small colds here and there.

  • I’ve used the chloreseptic spray before…it does work. I also like using a good lemon and honey tea to help sooth the throat.

  • When I worked in a call center I got sore throats often. I just about lived on Chloraseptic lozenges!

  • Kelly Hutchinson

We just went through a rounds of sore throats during the holidays. The only thing that seems to help and that the kids will use is the cherry Chloraseptic spray.

Keep Calm & Bat Your Eyelashes

Beautiful, thick lashes are the little black dress of beauty, the “it” factor that makes you look perpetually gorgeous and glamorous. Getting those flirty lashes though…that’s another story. If you aren’t born with them, you used to need a prescription or the courage to be a little experimental, so finding out a natural serum from […]

The Best Educational Apps Are Fun Too

My sons love their iPads, and I love how well they often behave when I pull out their iPads in restaurants or on long lines. There are so many games and apps they look for, and as far as I’m concerned, if it’s educational and kid-friendly, I’m all for it. Today, kids are tech savvy, […]

I heard about this app from a friend and she said her kids like it too, but I forgot about it since she mentioned it a couple of weeks ago. Maybe my daughter will get a kick out of it. Thanks for the reminder!

  • I’ve never heard of this app before, but it is great that it is fun for kids and educational. Like you, I feel as long as things are educational its OK if kids spend time on iPads or TVs!

  • I’ve not heard of that app but it looks so adorable! I’m going to have to purchase it for the boys so they can check it out!

  • Marcie W.

I have two children in the recommended age group and am all about educational apps! Thanks for sharing.

Individual Chocolate Caramel Brownie Cakes Recipe

My sons don’t like to share, and it usually annoys me. When it comes to things like desserts, chocolate, etc., I totally get it. I don’t want to share chocolate cake either, so when I make them my Chocolate Caramel Brownie Cakes, I bake them in individual cocottes so they can each have their own…no […]

My kids fight over treats too, I love the idea of giving them each their own serving bowl (or cocotte- never heard of that before). They also love brownies, so I will try this.

  • Denise

I saw this on twitter and it looked really good so I had to pop over to check it out. Does it taste more like chocolate cake or a brownie?

  • Penelope

Somewhere in the middle…richer than a typical chocolate cake.

  • Oh my word those are just way too adorable!! My boys would get a kick out of eating out of their own little baking dish.

  • Jenn

This sounds delicious and perfect for those who are watching portions.

  • Billie

These sound amazing! The cocottes are too cute, I would love to have a set.

  • Marcie W.

These sound delicious and those small pots are SO awesome! I think individual portions are definitely a wise idea for a dessert lover like myself.

  • Nina W.

What a cute idea! Weeks ago I noticed these mini cocottes in a shop and I tought that maybe they wouldn´t be so useful, but now I want to buy a couple and bake mini cakes for my family! Nice blog!!

  • Donna

I love everything about this! Brownies are my absolute favorite desserts but I can’t stop eating them, this way I have built-in portion control. 🙂 And it would be perfect for Valentine’s Day!

  • Andrea Kruse

I love individual desserts! Those red cocottes are darling. I may need to expand beyond my collection of blue Le Creuset.
