This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Gulf County Florida. All opinions are 100% mine.
We love outdoor adventure, and this year visited zoos, petted penguins, and spent a lot of time learning about animals on farms and in nature. My children love animals, and it’s something I want to encourage. I was a city girl growing up, so their love for all things outdoors and creatures is bringing me out of my shell too, and the perfect place for a family that loves the outdoors, nature, and adventure is Gulf County, Florida.
Gulf County is comprised of 244 miles of coastline along and around the Florida panhandle. Prime season starts from mid-August to mid-March, so you can take your family on the adventure of a lifetime to the place nature is allowed to flourish and grow, undisturbed.

Gulf County connects the Gulf of Mexico, the pristine, saltwater St. Joseph Bay, Indian Pass Lagoon, the Gulf County Canal, the Intracoastal Waterway, the Apalachicola Bay and river basin (a brackish mix of both), and the freshwater of the Dead Lakes and Chipola River- the varied waters are a source of magnificent wildlife and adventures for people, including kayaking, fishing, hiking, bird watching, snorkeling, ecotouring, and much, much more. The farthest adventures are within 15 minutes of any point.
And no two adventures are exactly the same ♥︎
Enjoy wildlife off the beaten path
The weather is beautiful and life is relaxed around Gulf County, Fl, and that includes Lake Wimico, a houseboat village that is a nature-lover’s dream. You can find alligators and other wildlife, maybe even a shark or eagle’s nest, and truly appreciate living life at a slower pace like it was in the past- the way life is meant to be lived and appreciated.
My boys would love to see alligators and sharks, making this one of our must-sees while visiting Gulf County, Florida.
Find turtles in the Bay
St. Joseph’s Bay is teeming with great fish and sea life, and may be the perfect place to try kayak fishing and enjoy an eco-tour. Find sea turtles and dolphins, and see them up close and personal! These beautiful sea creatures are favored by so many for their grace and friendliness, and we would put this as our #1 must-do when we visit.

Take an ecotour to go a little deeper
The local culture is friendly and interconnected, and the residents are very passionate about their home and the adventures it offers. Many live off the land – “I work every day I eat” – and they love to be outdoors. They also enjoy sharing what they love, and ecotours are unstructured and depend on what the day is like. Bio-experts teach and show visitors and are spontaneous. Who knows what you will find!
Since we love to just go with what the day brings, and want to think our adventure is unique and unlike any that anyone else ever had or will have, we love this!

I don’t know if I could decide which place to stay, but I am not much of a camper so I would prefer to stay in a hotel or rent a house or cabin. While viewing the photographs, I saw a hammock and that is exactly where I want to be. I would love to go snorkling with my son, ride horses on the beach, go on an ecotour of the wildlife, see the seahorses and the turtles and just relax in that beautiful slow-paced wonderful area.
