The Holiday Countdown

The year is coming to a close, and we’ve been spending our days getting ready for Christmas. This year, I’m hosting! We are decorating the house altogether, both with beautiful decor we shopped for (each year we add something new) and those we’ve made (we plan to recreate our DIY angel garlands craft from old literary books craft).

We want it to be meaningful, so I let the boys pick out holiday decorations they would like, and I treasure the crafts they make in school so always hang those up on our tree. Each year we build on what we did in the past, making our home fuller and more beautiful with each passing Christmas.

Traditions are important

Family traditions are important, especially those that revolve around holiday memories. This year we started the tradition of an Advent calendar count-down, and I created a printable calendar that I shared last month. Every day we do a different fun activity as a family as we countdown to Christmas, and each day the boys find a new treat or small toys in their wall calendar that also counts down the days to Christmas.

They are excited to wake up every morning and see what the new surprise is, and they love to come home from school every afternoon to see what activity we have planned for the day.

Me time is important too

Somehow in this last year, despite being busier than ever, I managed to fit some me time into every day. I love just taking a break to sit and relax with a good cup of flavored coffee, and think about the day. I usually take this time to go over what we did this day, and check off my To Do list. I love to make lists, and so I also organize my next day, including making plans for our family activity.

In honor of the holidays, I’ve been enjoying International Delight’s seasonal coffee creamer flavors, such as Frosted Sugar Cookie, Peppermint Mocha, Salted Caramel Mocha (new!), and Chocolate Hazelnut (also new!), and others. I love these holiday flavored coffee creamers and wait for them to come out every year, especially when I know a new flavor is making its debut. It makes me feel like I have a coffee house in my own living room, and are perfect for a coffee station during our holiday parties.

As I wind down from the day, I also check out emails, and look forward to updates from International Delight. If you are looking for some great coffee-inspired ideas, join the ID newsletter, and connect on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter.
