How I Keep Organized As A Mom

It’s a busy world, and it seems everyone is multi-tasking their way through it. I fall into that trap often, and I say trap because for me, multi-tasking is the surest way to get nothing done. I start something, start something else, get caught up in something else, think I’m getting lots done because I began so many projects, and before I know it, the day is over and nothing has been finished.

It’s a busy world, and I can’t multi-task to make my way through it. Instead, I make use of timers, to do lists, and planners. Then, doing it one step at a time, I get through it. Organization is key, because if everything is where it’s supposed to be, and there is a spot for everything, it just makes life so much easier.

Tips To Help New Parents Stay Organized

  • Keep it simple. You don’t need every product marketed to parents, so just stick with what you need and what works for you.
  • Keep the most important products within reach, so when you need them you don’t have to hunt for them.
  • Return everything to its place after using (if you remember to- I had that mommy brain going on big time).
  • Ask for help when you need it, because we all need help and it’s ok to ask for it- no one can do everything alone!
  • Prioritize your time, because there will be a lot of demands on you, and there is one most important thing on your to do list as a new parent. Everything else has to be on the back burner for a while, but since you do have to do other things, remember that To Do lists are your friend!

I try to do the hardest things first, but it doesn’t help. So, I definitely need to work on this (as I have no more hairs to pull out lol).

  • I couldn’t imagine not being organized. I don’t use planners just my brain which can be a mess sometimes lol. I think the biggest would be schedule, stay with routine as much as possible. It will help so much when kids begin to understand everything.

  • You have some great ones listed, I think those cover the important ones.

  • I totally agree about keeping most used items nearby. There were some things I didn’t even bother to put in a permanent home because they were used so much.

  • I always felt uncomfortable asking for help when my daughter was little. Looking back now, I wish I had your advice then, it would have made me a better mom sometimes if I had not felt the need to always look like I had my act together. Most times I didn’t!

  • I’m working on getting life organized as we speak. Prioritizing my time has been the biggest thing to tackle….especially with working from home.

  • Yes, they are distracting little critters aren’t they. Lucky they are so cute 😉

  • I’m terrible with time management. I know that I should be able to accomplish more in a week than I do, I just need to figure out how to do it!

  • Do not be upset if you cannot get things done. You can always do it another day.

  • I agree that you don’t need to have every single item marketed to parents. I do better with just a couple. More creates clutter in my life and I can’t stand clutter.
