Things To Do In Virginia Beach #VisitVaBeach

Road trips are something I grew up enjoying with my family, which is probably why my husband and I plan to take a lot with our own children. I have wonderful memories of long drives while we sing and talk, and fun places we’d visit during our vacations. One of my favorite places to visit as a child was Virginia Beach, which is just over six hours from New York City, the ideal distance for traveling by road.

We spent two weeks one summer in Virginia Beach when I was a child, and not only is it a family friendly, wonderful place to soak up the sun, it also features many other attractions like cultural and music festivals, beautiful parks, and great restaurants (we particularly enjoyed the seafood restaurants, they are fabulous!)

We stayed along the boardwalk and just had a blast- every day we were on that beach or in a pool. The summer weather in Virginia Beach tends to be around 80 degrees- perfect for days on the beach, but not to hot that we couldn’t enjoy beach volleyball. It was a blast!

Because we were teens, and because I plan to return with my own children, it was wonderful that there were lots of fun water activities for us to enjoy. At the time I had never done things like paddleboarding or parasailing, and while I didn’t have the nerve to parasail (my siblings did and to this day I’m jealous I wasn’t braver and able to check that off my bucket list), I did paddleboard and enjoy other activities that kept me closer to land and sea. When I return with my family, I will go parasailing!
