School, work, the holidays, etc. Life gets hectic, and we all have times where we just need to take a break. So we did, we just took a break in the middle of the week and headed into Manhattan for an overnight stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton on Lexington Ave. We unplugged and disconnected from the rest of the world and just relaxed as a family, a sort of early Family Spring Break.
(sometimes the only way to get a break is to just do it- turn off the phones and computers and gadgets and just go away)
The truth is it’s pretty hard to take a family vacation, as I’m sure many moms know. Between trying to get off from work, school terms, having so many commitments, you feel like you can’t do it, but that is why it’s so important to make time to take a break with family, even a mini, midweek break like we did- and we had a great time! DoubleTree by Hilton are family-oriented hotels that cater to children, from warm-baked cookies and coloring books upon arrival, to a delicious full breakfast to start off our day of enjoying the city. They provided us with a full-sized crib for the baby and our own beds were plush and comfortable, with big marshmallow pillows.
Since we really wanted to have fun as a family, we were more interested in what was in the area, and DoubleTree helped us with this, providing information and discounts for local attractions to help us get the most from our stay. There is free internet access and a selection of movies (including movies still showing in theaters) for families that still want to stay a bit plugged in as well. All in all, a great way to take a Spring Break with our family!

I’ll be the bad mom and publicly admit that I would spend 2-3 nights ALONE! Seriously, with four children between the ages of 5-18, three of them boys, I would love a few days off of laundry, cooking, cleaning and driving everyone around. I would sit in my room with a few good books, drink tea, wear my jammies all day and not touch my phone or computer once.
OMG, me too! Let’s go!
I want to spend Spring Break somewhere warm like Miami with my family!
I would love to take my stepson to LegoLand for Spring Break. He is already 9 and feel like if we wait, he wouldn’t enjoy it as much.
