Autumn 2012 Memories

This fall was an incredible time for us as a family, a season of milestones and memories, from little man’s first day of school, to buying our first family home. I have a lot to be grateful for. I am happy that I discovered photography as a hobby, because I can capture our special moments, […]

  • I can see why you treasure those photos so much. 🙂

  • Jenn

Your photos are getting better and better! I love the second one. So sweet.

  • I love taking pictures too! So many wonderful memories to capture!

  • What incredibly sweet photos! Photography is clearly working for you! And I’m with you, never hide photos away on a shelf in an album. Digital frames are the way to go. Great post!

  • So sweet. I love the picture of cousin kissing him. That face is priceless

  • Beautiful pictures!

  • Such great pictures.

My little dude has the same pair of shoes.

  • April Decheine

Oh how precious, something I really miss is having a camera when the kids were small that I could develop my self.. Beautiful!!

  • So lovely Penelope! What lens are you using? You captured some beautiful memories.

  • These are so cute. Love the one where she is trying to kiss him. He wants no part of that. LOL

  • Your photos are beautiful.

  • Great photos and they grow so fast.

  • Mellisa

    What great photos!

  • Penelope

I wish I could take credit but a friend of mine adjusts them in post processing in ways I can’t comprehend yet (don’t know how to post process photography yet, I post things straight out of the camera), so she changes lighting and does magical things to photos to make them look like they glow. Once we are settled in to our new home, I plan to learn how to use the software and do this myself.

  • Penelope

This lens is a 24-70 Nikkor

  • Awwww! Your post really hit home!

  • Such sweet photos! It is amazing how they just hold onto our memories isn’t it? I bought my mom a digital photo frame for Mother’s Day and she loved it so much and is always adding photos to it. I need to get a few for myself now!

  • Those are great shots. Digital Frames are such a great way to showcase so many memories.

  • Gosh you captured some beautiful moments! 🙂

  • Billie

    Aww, these are great pictures!

  • These are amazing photos.

  • Oh my goodness the choke hold with his cousin is adorable. Definitely blackmail material!

  • Your photos are absolutely gorgeous, Penelope! Wow! Your son is so cute–love the grimace on his face when his cousin is kissing him. 🙂

Marriage Lessons From Rip Van Winkle

Rip Van Winkle is the classic tale of a man who roams off into the mountains one day with his dog, never to be seen again until twenty years later, when he stumbles back to town with an overgrown beard and claims of amnesia. I read the tale as a child and recently saw the […]

  • Jennifer The Quirky Momma

I like that. I like it a lot. I an everything but the breadwinner in my house, I think I’m okay with this for now. At least things are done to my specifications because I’m doing them right the first time, right? ; )

  • This is a great post Penelope. I’ve learned over the last 10 years with my husband that I need to be more patient with him. Just because he does something differently than I would, doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

  • Thanks for such an interesting and thought- provokin post. I’ll def. be sharing it on FB with friends.

  • Donna

I’ve never been a nagging wife. Sometimes I think I should. lol. Because sometimes things don’t get done, or I do them myself. 🙂 But my husband is the best father, a good provider, and very romantic, to name a few things. Love this analysis of Rip Van Winkle!

  • I love all those. I have learned to make sure I tell my husband something I love about him every day. And to always give him a kiss and hug!

  • Great lessons – I never would have gathered that knowledge if you hadn’t put it all together.

  • true and to the point thankfully I relate to the good points

  • I found this analogy to be fascinating, and I’ll certainly never think of the story of “Rip Van Winkle” in the same way again. People go a long way in creating their own happiness and unhappiness. Mrs. Van Winkle should never have married him in the first place. He was lazy and liked to fraternize with the other ladies much too well. However, once they were married, she tried to nag him into changing. How much happier she would have been had she taken care to marry someone who had the qualities she desired instead of falling for the wrong man. Apparently she didn’t see that any of the problem was her fault, and then the guy walked away and left her because he couldn’t stand her behavior any longer. Put this way, it’s a really sad story. Yet too many people, not fictional ones, live their lives in much the same manner.

Kate Hudson Is The New Face Of Ann Taylor

Today my Ann Taylor catalogue came in the mail, and there was Kate Hudson, looking sophisticated and elegant with long golden hair and modeling jewel-colored, belted peplums and animal prints: Good choice, Ann Taylor! Love Kate Hudson as the new spokesperson, and especially love the new bold, colorful styles as well. I absolutely love this […]

  • I’ve always thought Kate Hudson was gorgeous and she looks a lot like Goldie from certain angles!

  • Penelope

    Agree, totally see the resemblance!

  • Jenn

Love Ann Taylor. LOFT is more in my price range though. 🙂

  • Love love love those colours!!

  • Teri T

I love AT but Kate is a different demographic from me. I also really appreciate that their sizes go up to 18. Best tops, pants and dresses ever!

  • She is absolutely stunning.

  • I love the printed skirt in the first photo. SO cute.

  • Leilani

I love Kate Hudson! She is absolutely gorgeous!

  • I adore Kate Hudson and the styles are so classic while being bold and feminine. Such a great combination of features!

  • She is so pretty!

  • Jackeline

I love it! Kate is the absolute epitome of this brand: young and fresh but sophisticated. I’ve been shopping at Ann Taylor for decades and have never tired of the look, but Kate is bringing a whole new excitement and understated elegance to it. And she does have her mother’s genes, fabulous genes by the way. I love red, so of course the red dress jumped out at me. I would totally pair it with my allen street neil handbag by Kate Spade. The silhouettes compliment one another without subtracting the softness. Can’t wait to see more.

Do You Teach Your Children To Love Water?

I have two boys, and it makes me proud when they ask to drink water. In addition to being refreshing and hydrating, water is the healthiest beverage my family can drink…it detoxifies and cleanses, and keeps the body running optimally, plus it keeps us looking our best. Growing up, we drank lots of soda, but […]

  • Sounds like a great party! My kids really enjoy filling up their reusable water bottles each day.

  • Christi

I like this bottle for children and I would love to get one for my son. But I must say, I don’t have an issue with him loving water; as a matter of fact, he loves ice chips and will sit down and eat them as if they were a snack. Where can I get this?

  • I can’t believe I missed it, bummer!
