What is it about a good night sleep that seems so elusive? Most Americans, according to a recent Sleep Number® survey, get an average of 6.7 hours of sleep – well below the recommended 8 hours — and some (like me) get much less than that.
That adds up to a lot of grouchy, coffee-dependent Americans the next morning.
Most people need more sleep, to have more energy and be more alert. Getting enough sleep is good for our general well-being. A lack of sleep diminishes our immune system, ability to concentrate, and can seriously affect our moods, so it’s no surprise that May has been deemed “Better Sleep Month”…so many of us strive for that deep, comfortable, quality sleep that leaves us feeling rested and ready to take on the day.
This month is a great time to focus on ways to get a better night sleep, because it may be the one thing that changes everything for many people who go through their days feeling tired or achey. It takes 30 days to break a bad habit, and intuitive Sleep Number® beds can help you identify whatever is keeping you from getting your best rest.

Sleep Number® beds are designed to help you get a better quality sleep by actually tracking your sleep patterns with Sleep Number’s SleepIQ® technology and the firmness can be adjusted to help you achieve your most comfy, restorative sleep ever.
You watch your calories, count reps and sets while exercising, and keep track of so many other parts of your life, but few people track their sleep, which may have the biggest impact of all. Sleep Number® makes tracking your sleep easy – and you have nothing to wear, nothing to turn on. All you have to do is sleep.
We recently visited our local Sleep Number® store to learn about how the system works, and loved discovering that sensors working directly with advanced DualAir™ technology inside the Sleep Number bed measure average breathing rate, average heart rate, movement and bed presence to show you the quality of your sleep…combined with an intuitive activity tracker, you can discover how caffeine, exercise, certain foods or habits, etc all affect your quality of sleep, and make adjustments to your habits and routines to improve your sleep.
I’m committed to sleeping better, and so far made it a rule to not have caffeine after 3 pm, or exercise in the evenings. Sleep IQ technology can help me identify any other bad habits that may be affecting my sleep too, like watching tv late at night or spicy foods…maybe they can stay, or maybe they need to go. SleepIQ® technology can pin it down, and it’s available with all Sleep Number beds.
Getting a Sleep Number® bed is one way to get a better night sleep. How do you plan to commit to sleep for May’s Better Sleep Month?

I really need to do this. I have been decidedly UNcommitted to sleep for a long time. =(
I’d love a sleep number bed. My husband and I should be the spokescouple for them. We never agree on mattresses!
I want a sleep number bed and a separate room from my husband LOL. It’s our dream when we retire.

I tested out a sleep number a while ago. It was so nice. I’d definitely get better sleep.
I know I feel better and get more accomplished when I have a good night’s sleep. I also know that most of the time, I don’t get enough sleep. It is hard even after you have retired to get in that bed at a decent hour.
Ah a better nights sleep! Yes please. I would love a sleep number. I have been struggling lately with sleep.
I love the sleep better ideas. I need a new bed and or a new routine
With a newborn and toddler in the house, my sleep patterns are just awful, but I am definitely going to make my best effort at this! Uninterrupted sleep sounds like a dream come true.

Have you tried a nap during the day, Sabrina? That could help get you through when you don’t have a chance to get a solid night’s sleep. Limiting naps to 25-30 minutes or 60-90 minutes should help keep you from waking up groggy, too!
