A man was checking into a hotel one evening when the desk attendant informed him that he’d be staying in a room on the 5th floor, and the room next to his was vacant and didn’t have a number. He told him that room should be avoided. “Don’t even look through the key hole,” the attendant warned.
The man took his luggage and went to his room, passing by the unmarked room on the way. After he unpacked, curiosity got the better of him and he went over to the room next door, kneeled down and peeked through the key hole. He saw the back of a young woman as she sat on the edge of a bed. He thought it was strange to find her there since the room is supposed to be unoccupied, but since there was no other movement or sound, he became bored and returned to his room.
The next morning as he was leaving to check out, he passed the room again and decided to peek a second time. He peered through the key hole, but all he saw was red. It occurred to him that the occupants may have realized there was a peeper and covered the hole. He continued downstairs to the front desk and told the desk attendant what happened.
The attendant sighed and said “I told you not to look, but since you did, I may as well tell you the full story. There was a murder in that room some years back. A man killed his wife, a young girl of about 22, pretty. It was bad, and folks believe she haunts the room now. Strange thing though, when they found her, everything was pretty normal about her, except her eyes…they were red.”
