Chilly days with snow filled skies, wintery nights filled with cuddling and holiday movies. It’s the best time of the year, and a time we spend indoors a great deal by our faux fireplace with down blankets and puzzles and hot beverages. We recently had our first snow fall, which the boys watched with anticipation all day. At night when it slowed down to a gentle snowfall, they ran out for their first snowball fight, to make the first snow angels of the year, and to catch their first snowflakes on their tongues.

Soon the boys will be home everyday for the holidays, and that means we can sleep later in the mornings, and spend our days sledding and snow tubing while bundled up in hats and mittens. There is no homework, no work demands, and nothing to do but relax and enjoy our Christmas and New Year’s break together. Of course, I’ll be working- the fun kind of work. I will be baking goodies and making hot cocoa, and enjoying them in the evenings together when everyone comes in from the cold after a fun day outdoors. It reminds me of when I was a kid, just playing with all the children in the neighborhood- ice skating, pulling each other around on makeshift sleds, snow ball fights, all of it – and not even being aware of the time at all. And it reminds me of coming home and eating a hot soup, followed by a delicious baked dessert like homemade cookies and a hot chocolatey beverage.
Today I’m sharing my recipe for Homemade Frosted Sugar Cookie Hot Cocoa recipe that is super easy to make (kids can make it themselves on a cold morning or while playing board games with friends), and the twist of adding International Delight Frosted Sugar Cookie Coffee Creamer adds a wonderful holiday touch. It’s perfect to drink after coming in from playing out in the snow, or with a delicious baked dessert at the end of the day. It even makes a great gift when packaged in a beautiful tin and packaged in a basket with a few bottles of your favorite seasonal International Delight flavors.
