What will travel look like in the year 2030? That’s what Marriott Rewards Credit Card from Chase asked Americans in a new survey, and it made me start imagining all the possibilities. I mean, look how far we came in just the last ten years… it seems like technology and our world has advanced by leaps and bounds. Would people traveling in the future be able to fly their own mini-space ships? Or would they not even leave their home, and simply take a vacation through virtual reality while sitting in their own living room?

What will travel be like in 2030?
After reading the infographic sharing the travel predictions, I was amazed by how creative and imaginative others are- and frankly, nothing suggested was really outside the realm of possibility. We can already communicate via handheld devices and our watches, and see people on the other side of the world in real time, so who knows what will happen in the next decade or two. How about a honeymoon in an underwater hotel? Or digital passports and face recognition technology as the new norm, accessible via smart devices like a watch? How about extreme hotel experiences such as private huts over the ocean or zip lining to your treehouse? I LOVE those ideas, and any and all of these are possible. They are all futuristic and super adventurous and incredibly thrilling!
Space Travel and Virtual Reality?
It all really does sound very plausible in our ever-changing and quickly advancing world. Many surveyed also think Americans will choose eco-travel destinations, showing what a conscious and thoughtful group American travelers are. Check out the infographic for the top responses from others about travel by the year 2030 … are you surprised by what many believe can possibly transpire in our world in just the next 15 years?

I travel a lot, so I love the idea of earning points when I do it. Thanks for sharing this!
This is a great program. I love getting points when I travel. I travel so much, I might as well get something back!
I don’t think we will be ready for space travel by 2030, but I do see things like digital passports being a reality then. More eco-friendly travel options and hotels will be chosen by then too I believe.
I bet travel will change a lot by 2030. I am not sure what to expect, but things sure have come a long way already. I love traveling with my family, so it will be exciting to see what the future holds.
I love earning points for travel with credit card – a great way to save.
