The Finishing Touches With @Decorview

One of the most dramatic ways to change the atmosphere of a room is with window treatments. Depending on how you dress your windows, the general aura and mood of a room can be dramatically changed. I love a lot of natural light and window treatments that are simple and clean. I recently shared a bit about our current window treatments as well as two particularly troublesome windows, as well as our fortunate opportunity to partner with Décorview to learn about and experience Hunter Douglas window solutions.

One of our windows was located in a hallway, precariously perched over a set of stairs, so we never bothered putting blinds over it that would tempt someone to lean over to lift them too see out, and possibly fall down the stairs. Hunter Douglas offers beautiful motorized cellular shades that are perfect for windows like this, so for our hallway we chose Hunter Douglas motorized light filtering honeycomb Top Down Bottom Up cellular shades, and opted to mount a controller on the left side wall where anyone could safely stand on the landing to use.

If you have elderly parents, small children, full stairs, etc this is a really wonderful option to consider, a real solution to for hard to reach windows. Now we can cover this window with a beautiful light filtering, insulating cellular honeycomb shade that lets in some light, but offers complete privacy and temperature control, as well as the option to peer out from the top or bottom.

The other window I was concerned about was the office window. I already had a lovely cellular shade covering it, but it only lifted to let me see out. When I ordered it, I didn’t realize how wonderful Top Down Bottom Up honeycomb shades were for those of us who would like privacy, and since my office faces a public street, I often felt exposed in the early evenings when I was working with my light on. I wished I had invested in shades with a Top Down option, and I didn’t even know that motorized shades were an option before Décorview helped me navigate the extensive options available today for our homes.

For our office, I ordered remote controlled, light filtering honeycomb cellular shades by Hunter Douglas that allows me to sit at my desk and control the shades remotely from anywhere…how wonderful! These shades have a linen-like texture that is so elegant, and during the day I can have privacy while still enjoying ample natural sunlight.

Whichever you choose will provide both privacy, safety, and convenience, and you can actually have both a remote and wall control unit for each shade. One controller can control multiple motorized shades if you have it set up that way, so you would just select the number for the window shade you’d like to adjust, and it works with sound waves so you don’t have to actually be able to even see the window or be in the same room when you press the buttons. It’s a wonderful solution in homes with elderly, anyone who is immobile, if you want the convenience of working at a desk and still able to control the shades on the other side of the room without disrupting your work flow, and in homes like ours with windows located is somewhat dangerous locations.

If you like the ones we chose, they are Top Down, Bottom Up Honeycomb Cellular Shades by Hunter Douglas that are motorizes and can be controlled by a wall-mounted controller and/or handheld remote:
