Before we got married, my husband was a big tv watcher. He couldn’t believe I didn’t have cable or even basic television in my home to watch shows daily. I said “I don’t need those, I have Netflix“. After we got married, he got it. He is now a die hard Netflix fan, and recommends it to everyone.

Netflix currently offers two subscription programs, dvds by mail and on-demand streaming of thousands of shows and movies, and we are a member of both. I pretty much only stream Netflix, because they have so much to offer, including new release movies, popular, currently running tv shows, and (what is usually on our tv) Netflix Kids.
Netflix Kids is special programming just for kids, that runs the range from entertaining to educational (usually both) and is child-friendly. Because Netflix offers the option to view Netflix Kids only, you don’t have to worry about your child accidentally stumbling onto adult movies, and there are so many options that you never even have to think about cluttering your home with dvds again.
And my son watches it all, on tv…

and the iPad…

His favorite shows are Curious George, Pingu, and Thomas and Friends. I personally love Curious George, so each day I take my two sons, snuggle on the couch together, and watch Curious George. It’s very educational: we learn math, about animals, friendships and socializing, and much more. His vocabulary and ability to understand concepts has developed a great deal, and I notice he even uses phrases from the show while interacting with friends.

Netflix has now added new content from Hasbro, Disney Jr, and Cartoon Network (I think my son has watched Car Toons: Mater’s Tall Tales and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Road Rally about ten times each already- I have the songs memorized myself). And of course, my younger son is now a fan also. He likes to sing along (as best he can).
Netflix Kids is geared to children 2-12 (selections made with the help of Common Sense Media so parents can decide what is appropriate for their child). The Netflix app to stream is free and easy to use, so no more fighting about what to watch on tv- it’s what you want, right when you want it, on almost any device. Netflix can stream on up to three devices at a time, so if each of my sons and my husband all want to watch a different show, they can (a movie on the computer, Pingu on a tablet, and Curious George on the tv in this house).

What are you watching on TV with your family? Netflix has family favorites from Disney, Disney Jr., Hasbro, Cartoon Network and Dreamworks that are available to stream anytime, anywhere.
And streaming is easier than you think! Download the free app on your iPad, click on the Netflix app on any gaming device, go to the website on your computer – and you’re in business. Check it out here!

We got rid of our cable about a year and a half ago and just do Netflix and Hulu+. It’s a way cheaper alternative and my boys love the selection on Netflix. They can watch power rangers until their heart’s content. 🙂
I absolutely love Netflix and so does my entire family. We definitely get our money’s worth.
We just got it. My daughter loves it!
I think it’s fabulous that they have a sort of channel for kids. I’m so with you on that silly little monkey too. He’s adorable!
Thanks for sharing this. I had no idea there was a Netflix Kids. We downgraded to very basic cable and have none of the good kid channels, so this would be perfect for us!
We don’t actually stream any TV, unless we miss taping something on our DVR. There are still too many shows we enjoy watching that you can’t get on Netflix 🙁
We had Netflix for a long time but recently got rid of it due to some issues with freezing and them not figuring it out. Now we are talking about getting rid of expensive cable and trying them again. Love all the kids shows they offer!
My kids love Netflix. It is a part of their nightly bed-time routine.
We’re thinking of making the switch once our current contract is up.
we have been using amazon prime a lot.
My family watches a lot of Netflix!
My daughter almost exclusively watched Netflix Kids… there are so many shows!
This is very cool
We have Netflix but I didn’t realize they had Netflix Kids
We love Netflix. I’m currently watching their original series “Hemlock Grove”. It’s a bit out there, but I’m loving it!
My son is a diehard fan of Daniel Tiger. We watch the PBS lineup in the morning.
I like that – a lot. Wish that there was a version for my 18 year old.
I really like that you can view the Netflix Kids only section to avoid your kids accidentally viewing any inappropriate material. With three kids in the target age group, this would be a lifesaver.
This is such great news. We love our netflix and I’m so glad for more kid options.
We love Netflix. My youngest childs favorite show right now is Phineas and Ferb.
We use Netflix on a daily basis because we don’t have cable anymore. it just didn’t make sense to have cable when Netflix has almost everything we need. I love that they have the new Netflix for Kids area. My 8yo can login and she knows exactly what to look for and that everything in there is safe for her and her 3yo sister.
We love NetFlix around here!
All we watch is Netflix, but Yo Gabba Gabba wasn’t available today. Honestly if they cancelled it, I’m cancelling my subscription. It is my daughter’s absolute favorite.
It seems that they’ve change it a lot since the last time we had an account there. Seems like they’re offering some great shows for kids!
My son loves watching Netflix Kids- and we use Netflix all the time to find new shows. {&My son is Curious George obsessed!}
my 5 yr old is obsessed with Netflix and Batman, superheros I love that its available all day everyday and no extra cost even if you watch it all day long. I only wish they allowed it on more than 3 devices at once. we have 4 kids and they never all want to watch the same thing
You had me at Curious George! We love him!
That’s what my kids watch too. They love Netflix!
My son loves to watch the dinosaur shows on Netflix. 🙂
My son love Superhero Squad on Netflix!
I love Netflix for Kids, we have it on the Wii, computers and iPad and I don’t have to worry about the boys watching anything inappropriate.
We love, love, love, love Netflix here.
Love Netflix!
