Getting that Designer Look without Breaking the Bank {Guest Post}

For most women, choosing certain fashion pieces is a way of expressing themselves. Through fashion, women can make bold statements or show the world who they are as a person. For these reasons, it is important for many women to make their voice heard through the best designers. Obtaining these fashions, however, can be pricy and just downright difficult. For women who find it difficult to afford or to obtain the latest fashions from top designers, there is an array of options available to them.

Affordable Fashions

There are many different ways that consumers can obtain affordable fashion pieces. One of the best ways to find affordable fashion is to browse local consignment shops. Ever heard the phrase “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” In fashion, this phrase is very much relevant. Some women out grow their wardrobe or just need to make room for new pieces. One of the best options for these people is to donate them to consignment shops. When a donation is made, consignment shops thoroughly check through the donations to make sure that there are no holes, stains, or other deformities. Once the clothes have been checked, the clothes are marked way down for pricing, which makes it nice for those on a strict budget. One negative aspect to shopping at consignment stores, however, is that it can be hard to locate good pieces in the correct size. With consignment store fashion, it really is about knowing the delivery schedule and being lucky enough to find designer fashions.

Another option for those on a budget is to sign up with a website. These websites offer many different fashions for rent at affordable prices. When renting fashion from a company, consumers do not have to worry about finding a space to store dress. Furthermore, this option allows a consumer to try fashions that they normally wouldn’t because the original price tag is too hefty. Renting fashion from a website also has its disadvantages. When renting from a website, consumers may find it difficult to choose the correct size. Because consumers cannot virtually try on a dress, they have to depend on their knowledge of the designer and how small that designers sizes typically run. If a consumer is not equipped with this knowledge and she chooses her normal size, she could end up spending money to rent a dress that will not fit her. If the dress is for a special occasion, this situation could cause the consumer quite the headache.

When considering either one of these options, it is important for consumers to do their research. Consumers shopping at consignment stores should ask the store manager about information regarding deliver days and times. Consumers participating on online dress rentals should research their chosen designer. It may even be beneficial to find the dress at one of the designer’s retailers and try it on before renting. Taking these small steps could make shopping on a budget easier and more enjoyable for the consumer.
