Insulate Your Home With GREAT STUFF

When we moved into our new home, it needed a lot of work, not the least of which was fixing damage to walls that were just left by the previous owners. One of the things that especially irked me was the multiple holes made into the walls (including the brick exterior of the home) for internet and cable that were left open, inviting small pests and insects. Eew.

We also were shocked to discover the high costs of gas heat and electricity for home owners (we were utterly spoiled in our condo). Needless to say, anything that would help us cut costs was something we were interested in. Dow’s GREAT STUFF Insulating Foam Sealants and Work Wipes are products that make it easy for anyone to solve problems such as:

  • Filling in cracks and gaps around windows
  • Sealing up holes to keep out pests
  • Insulating the attic
  • Clean up small messes
  • The GREAT STUFF is a foam material you spray into the holes and cracks that expands the fill in and take the shape of the opening, an affordable way to air seal the home and save on heating and cooling costs (up to 20%). The various Dow products include GREAT STUFF Pest Block, GREAT STUFF Gaps & Cracks and GREAT STUFF Work Wipes, and the foams are non-toxic and able to be shaped, cut, painted, etc (so they don’t actually look like the yellow blobs you see here after).

Dow created an air sealing checklist and tip sheet with DIY projects that can be done around the home to enhance energy efficiency and improve the comfort level, and you can learn about the various affordable and easy to use GREAT STUFF home solutions here.

We received the products mentioned in this post for review purposes.

That’s the kind of stuff we’re going to need for maintenance on our new home, we have some holes in the mortar between the bricks too.
