Hairstyle Tutorial: How To Make A Hair Bow #Beauty

I recently baptized my second son, and I wanted to have a really pretty hairstyle for the occasion. Something pretty and unique, and at the same time prim and feminine, a style fitting for the mother of a boy being baptized, and I fell in love with the Hair Bow Hairstyle:

I came across a gorgeous hair bow tutorial on Hair and Makeup By Steph that I used to create my hair bow look (for detailed instructions on each step, please visit her site):

I made some small changes for my own twist on Stephanie’s lovely hair style. To create my own version of the Hair Bow Hairstyle:

* I washed my hair, dried it, and sprayed it with Quick Tease hair spray by Redken

* I separated my hair into a half up/ half down style and curled the bottom half

* I teased the top half at the crown, above where I would put the bow, for a voluminous Brigit Bardot look

* I followed the steps Stephanie outlined to create the hair bow, except I left part of the tail strands that would be used to wrap around the middle of the bow loose for the next step

* I curled a few loose strands under the bow to create the impression of “ribbons”

and here are my results:

My niece wore some new flower hair clips from Scunci at the baptism called Bendinis (which can be found in most drug stores). They feature a plastic comb that bends/snaps back to secure hair firmly in place without causing damage to delicate hair strands, so if you’ve been searching for pretty flower hair barrettes that won’t come loose or damage your hair:
