Oven Baked Garlic Bread #GFCommunity

I’ve been buying Udi’s gluten free breads for the last few months for my family while trying out a gluten free lifestyle and participating in a GF community and forum (to learn about the benefits of a non-gluten diet for people who don’t have celiac disease). We often buy their hamburger buns (because we are a carnivorous, burger loving family), and my husband observed that they are “very thick”. Too thick? “I just think they’d make a great garlic bread”.

Huh. Burger buns for an oven baked garlic bread at home? Maybe…

So I decided to give it a try.

Using Udi’s whole grain hamburger buns, and a mixture of sweet butter, parsley and garlic, I made my family some oven baked garlic bread.

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
2. Cut slices into bread about 1/2 inch apart.
3. Saute garlic in butter and add in parsley at the very end. Stir together and remove from heat.
4. Add a small pat of butter and a teaspoon of the garlic-parsley mixture in between each bread slice and spread around. Repeat for all slices.
5. If adding cheese, add evenly between slices as well.
6. Pour the remaining mixture over the top of the bread, and bake for 10 minutes until garlic turns golden.
7. Remove from heat and enjoy!

It was surprisingly tasty (well, not really surprising, except that I never made oven baked garlic bread with whole wheat bread before) but these buns are the perfect texture for it and allow for smaller portions as well if you don’t want to us an entire Italian loaf.
