I love the BBC, and my husband loves the Discovery Channel, so I was really excited about the Discover Channel Human Planet dvds, a new series by the creators of Planet Earth that is co-produced with BBC and premieres on the Discovery Channel April 24th at 8pm. It’s educational, family friendly, and incredibly fascinating. I only started to watch our copy of Human Planet, and it’s just beyond thrilling…we humans are amazing and can adapt to anything.

What is Human Planet? It’s a series of 80 stories focused solely on human behavior and our interactions with nature, in the farthest reaches of the planet, under the most unique and sometimes very difficult of circumstances. Human Planet shares how innovative and amazingly well humans adapt all over the world, and each episode focuses on a different habitat. Human survival stories, beautiful cultural diversity, human resources solutions based on nothing more than working with nature…it’s just riveting. It’s a visually beautiful study on human nature that really celebrates both humans and nature.

I plan to update after watching more of the DVD, but I wanted to share this information before the series is broadcast for the final time. I’m mostly looking forward to watching the final “Best Of” episode that shares Life At The Extremes (very exciting!)
Be sure to check it out with your family on April 26th at 8pm on the Discovery Channel.
If you miss the premiere, the DVD will be available for purchase starting April 26th on DVD and BluRay, and will include all eight of the original episodes (the broadcast features six), extending the viewing time with an additional three hours. They include the episode Cities, as well as a set of ten Behind the Lens “making of” bonus features.

Sounds like something I’d like. Thanks for sharing.
Definitely sounds interesting. It must border on embarrassing/disappointing/frustrating for the young men to wait a year to dance again. It is amazing how different cultures do things.
This looks very well done – I just got a copy in the mail the other day to review, but won’t get to it until next week – I’m excited to see it after watching the trailers you posted – this will be great for use in our home school
This looks amazing. I guess I know what I’ll be doing Sunday evening.
This looks AMAZING — my husband and I love watching documentaries like this. Sigh, I wish the Discovery Channel was part of our cable package!
I have heard of this show, haven’t watched it because I rarely get TV time but I may have to try to catch it. Sounds great!
I loved Planet Earth another Discovery/BBC collaboration and this one sounds just as interesting! I’ll have to check this out!
It sure is an amazing world we love in. How have I not seen this before?
