Our Boston Travels

We are back from our trip to Boston, and we had a wonderful time! We loved it so much we fantasized about moving to Cambridge, our son attending M.I.T., and eating dinner in the North End every weekend. There is lots to share about our Boston travels, and we couldn’t believe how sweet and friendly strangers were (coming up to us in the streets to offer directions as we searched our town map), how affordable everything was (the “expensive” restaurants were what your basic diner food costs in many places here), and how much fun we had. We love Cambridge and Boston, we love the people, we love the food, and we can’t wait to return one day.

We stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast, which I was leery of at first (don’t they have shared bathrooms?), until I was assured that we can have our own room with our own bathroom, as well as a delicious breakfast every morning (they weren’t kidding… everything from fresh fruits and organic yogurt to freshly made croissants and creme brulee french toast- it was incredible!).

We walked everywhere (Boston is the “walking city”) unless it was very far, and then we quickly learned to navigate the T, their subway system, between Cambridge and Boston. We walked the historical trail and saw the site of the Boston Massacre, as well as Paul Revere’s home in the beautiful North End district.

We did lots more, and all in all it was a wonderful family trip. Boston is beautiful, carries a rich history and was the foundation of our great country in many ways. Cambridge is incredible, filled with youth and fun shops and great architecture, and my husband said it felt like we were on a honeymoon again. I’ll share more of our Boston trip as the weeks pass, but it is great to be home, and have fabulous memories of our family’s first trip together.

B&B’s are my favorite! Boston’s not too shabby either. Glad you had a good time.

  • Megan

  • Kathleen

I have never been to Boston, but it looks beautiful and I am glad you all had a great time. The bed and breakfast looks so quaint and charming. I have never stayed at one, but have always wanted to.

  • I would LOVE to visit Boston — all of the historical sights would be wonderful!

  • Sara

    Looks like fun!

There are some amazing B&Bs here in KS. I adore B&Bs 😀
I dream of visiting Boston someday. I hear it is just gorgeous! You made me want to visit there even more, love the pics!

Looks fun! Boston is on my list of places to visit someday. I have always been leery of staying at B&B’s, did you end up liking it? I think they are charming but I guess I’m concerned about privacy 🙂

That sounds like such a fabulous trip! I can’t wait to see and read more about your adventures!

  • Crystal @ Simply Being Mommy

It looks and sounds like y’all had an amazing time.

  • I am so glad you enjoyed my city! I know northeasterners have a reputation for being aloof, but here, I just find that’s not true. And the city if confusing – I always offer help if someone looks lost! Drop me a line any time you’re back in town!

We just went on our first family vacation to Boston last week. It was beautiful, but I must do the bed and breakfast thing next time. It looks too cute! Okay, I better get started writing my Boston trip blog post. Happy SITS day!

  • Boston looks beautiful! From the sounds of it you were able to see some of the best attractions the city has to offer. I’m so happy to hear you had a great time!
