Ribeye steak is one of my favorite cuts of steak because of its delicious flavor. It’s beef from the ribs, and you really don’t have to add much to it to make it delicious because it’s marbled and stays tender as long as you don’t overcook it. You can get a boneless cut or bone-in rib eye (called a rib steak), and if you prepare the rib eye correctly, it’s a great, easy and delicious dinner for your family.
This recipe is for simple rib eye steak on the broiler, without any marinades (you really don’t need it). After the steaks are defrosted in the fridge, let them sit outside for 15 minutes to an hour for best cooking results (you don’t get the same results if you cook them right from the refrigerator).
The Perfect Rib Eye Steak Recipe
Ingredients
2 x 1 1/2 inch thick rib eye steaks
sea salt
Directions
1. Remove steaks from fridge and leave out at room temperatur for at least 15 minutes. Season with sea salt- gently rub in.
2. Turn broiler on to low and allow oven to heat up a few minutes. Set the broiler pan on top rack (at least four inches from flame).
3. Place seasoned steaks on broiling pan and broil on low for about ten minutes on one side, then turn and broil for seven minutes on the other side. This is for medium steaks (eyeball it, as all ovens are different). Medium rare- about 7 min on each site, medium well- 10-12 min on each side (approximate for 1 1/2″ rib eye steaks).
4. After finished, serve steaks with side and read ideas below for great and easy toppings.
Rib eye steak stays tender up to medium, but I sometimes love it medium-well too, and often add lightly charred scallions tossed in a little olive oil and salt/pepper on top. Another variation I love is brushing on a mixture of lemon juice, garlic, salt/pepper, fresh rosemary, and sage right before cooking.
Oh goodness. Now I am starving. There is nothing quite like a good steak.
That is so beautiful looking!!! But when you said it stays tender up to medium, it explained why I don’t like ribeyes. I like my meat done xxxxxxx-well.
That looks delicious, Penelope!
I would be scared to even touch a steak (SO not a good cook) but those look scrumptious!
Hmm, love rib eye! Looks amazing.
My husband saw this post from over my shoulder and now he HAS to have me make it for him. He’s such a steak man and rib eye is his favorite cut.
Looks delish!
I took your advice! Check out my post mañana.

Wow, that is really easy. I have not done a lot of cooking in the broiler (not exactly sure what to do). I will have to try this. Thanks 🙂

Mmmm…I love steak.
sooo goood looking!! gonna have to take out steaks for dinner now lol!!
Great tips, I always have trouble cooking steaks.
I also think a good ribeye is the best steak. Don tells everyone he doesn’t need to go to a restaurant for a steak dinner because I make a steak that will rival the best steak houses in the area.
I love me a good rib eyed steak, mmmm 🙂
Hubby loves steak. I like them but rather eat chicken. He is also a big fan of rib eye steaks! These look good:)
This recipe sounds great!
We love ribeyes and usually grill them.
