Earlier this evening I went to my first BlogHer 2010 event, and the one I was looking forward to the most, at the Ralph Lauren Reading Room in NYC. There, in the midst of a cozy lounge area where equestrian artwork decorated the plaid walls, we drank champagne, ate cupcakes from Crumbs, and watched two […]
♥ Breast milk does not always come in right away. Many new moms feel discouraged when they attempt to breast feed and aren’t producing sufficient milk right away. Don’t give up! It can take up 7-10 days. If you still do not produce much milk, you can breast-feed as much as you can and supplement the […]
Amazon.com is now offering tv and movies on demand, so you can watch what you want, when you want, on your own tv or computer! I was perusing what they offer, and there is a variety of movies and tv shows already (you pay per movie or episode). If you aren’t a Netflix kind of […]

Thanks for the tip. I'm always on the look out for good entertainment at home!

Raising kids can be a lot like weeding the rose bed…well worth it, but…OUCH!
According to a new study published in several health reports, if new moms would breastfeed babies for their first six months, it would save nearly 1,000 lives and billions of dollars each year. In the US over 900 preventable deaths occur each year because of falling breastfeeding rates, which are far below medical recommendations, according […]

I loved breast feeding. I stopped at 8 months because by that time my daughter had about 8 teeth and was biting my nipples to the blood. I still have shivers thinking about it. I soley pumped for a while but that was too hard so finally at 9 months I moved her to formula/milk. I do try to tell all the pregnant women I know about the benefits and the tips that worked for me. It was such a special time in my life and I loved bonding with my child that way!
I agree with you on the hospital stay – my daughter had some difficulty breathing and they took her away for about 6 hours after she was born and gave her a bottle. I was so pissed! I thought that was supposed to be my decision. My milk didn't come in till day 3 and the pedi was telling me I was under-feeding my 8 pound child and wanted to supplement and made me come back to her office ever 2 days to weigh her. I refused to supplement and Lily grew well and I think not supplementing was key. I also think if you are going back to work, starting to pump early (at 3-4 weeks) on top of feedings helps build your supply and increase production.
Sorry to drone on. I wish more women tried to breastfeed. It has so many benefits – and helps women lose their pregnancy weight faster. You'd think that would be encouragement enough!
-
I'm amazed at how fast I lost the pregnancy weight as a result of breast-feeding. I actually have to force myself to eat more because I can easily lose more weight than I should. You are right, this is a good selling point *wink*
I'm not sure about "underfeeding" or where that came from, that babies need lots of formula to be healthy at birth. Babies eating nothing but a tablespoon of colostrum in the first few days do just fine, as did my chubby son.
Don't worry about droning, I enjoyed every word of your post- I love to talk to women about this!

Each of the seven kits contains everything needed for a fun craft project that can provide entertainment for hours, and entertain multiple children at once.
