Safety First

I recently started working outside the home again, and while I live in a safe area, what IS a “safe area”? I never really worry as I go about my day, pick up a late shift once in a while, or go for a jog in the late evening anymore, but I used to, because my safety is paramount- who else is going to care for my young family? I shouldn’t have to be concerned, not when I’m heading to my car in the morning, taking a road trip with my family, or any other time, and I was so happy to discover a reliable product that can help anyone feel safe as they go about their daily life, whether you’re a teen heading to the train to get to school in the early morning, or a late shift worker heading back to your car overnight, or a mom packing the trunk of your car with groceries alone. I discovered Alarmee Self-Defense Keychains, something that I wish I had my entire adult life, and a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

alarmee keychain

Alarmee is a rechargeable personal self-defense keychain alarm from 3DActive that is small and discreet and always with you, and can be used by anyone (my son keeps it on a belt loop). Alarmee can hook onto a keychain, laptop bag, belt loop, or purse with the included carabiner. What a relief to have something that allows you to just enjoy yourself without thinking about what you would do just in case. If you feel afraid, you can pull out your Alarmee and initiate a very loud and powerful alarm to scare off anyone that makes you feel apprehensive, and also call attention to you from passersby. It can give you enough time to get away or alert others to call for help, because it emits a loud 130db siren and a bright strobe light that can surprise anyone with nefarious intentions, or just attracts passersby. Even if you jumped the gun a bit and were being too cautious (no danger was present), no one is harmed from an alarm and light, and it’s better to err on the side of caution because it can save your life just in case.

Alarmee is stylish, easy to use (just pull the ring), and deactivate (replace the pulled ring). Super easy for something potentially life saving! Alarmee is made from premium quality, impact-resistant materials that are durable and made to last. It has a rechargeable Lithium ion battery (and the USB-C cable is included) and low battery warning, and recharges in as little as 60 minutes. The alarm can run continuously for up to 70 minutes. It’s available in 5 colors; I carry the lavender and my son has the black Alarmee. It also has an LED light built-in to help out when you are in a low light situation (searching for keys, for example, or walking in a poorly lit area). Overall, Alarmee is a proactive tool to promote your safety, a mini guardian for everyone we love.

And since we’re on the topic of being prepared… you have a First Aid Kit, right?

We love the Keep>Going GoKit First Aid Kit, a handy little compact kit from the Pepper Family, a small family business that provides one of the coolest little First Aid Kits I’ve found. I have a few standard issue first aid kits around, but this GoKit, which is made from a pretty blue canvas with zipper, is designed for people on the go with 130 useful items that aren’t in most other first aid kits. Do you travel a lot? Chauffeur the kids to all their activities each day? Does everyone come to your house for BBQs? Love hiking? This first aid kit has you covered.

Favorite features of the Keep>Going GoKit that make it perfect for families on the go

1. Complete standard first aid kid items including bandages, wipes, pads, ointments, creams, and rolls of various sizes, as well as butterfly fasters and knuckle bandages

2. Extra essentials instruments and key items beyond most first aid kits including scissors, metal tweezers, splinter remover, tick remover (love this!), finger splint, and disposable thermometer

3. High quality case, carabiner, items and tools, organized with multiple compartments and zippers, TSA approved, water and stain resistant.

We are always out and about, and living on Long Island means we are exposed to it all… bugs, burns, booboos galore. It’s important to be prepared and proactive, and this well-stocked first aid kit makes me feel ready for anything… a hike in the woods, a day at the park, and more. I love how thoughtfully all the essentials in the Go Kit were curated to consider the common mishaps or emergencies most families face, and this can be kept anywhere- home, school, work, in the car, etc.

Four kits are available, including the SuperKit (270 pieces), GoKit featured here (130 pieces), MiniKit (60 pieces) and KidsKit (44 pieces), all in a variety of great colors or trendy patterns, and they can be found at KeepGoingFirstAid.com and Amazon.
