This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Wellspring Camps. All opinions are 100% mine.
I have a son who sometimes comes home upset because he was teased about his haircut or because he’s shorter than other kids in class, and it breaks my heart. It also brings me back to my own childhood, when I was super sensitive about my weight (and was called names by siblings, like “thunder thighs” and whatnot). No one explained to me how to make healthier food choices or how to incorporate exercise into my life in a way that is both fun and practical.

As a parent, I never want my child to be the target of scrutiny like I was, and I also want my children to be as healthy as possible, so strive to maintain a healthier diet and lifestyle in our home. Any parent would likewise want the same for their own child, so for parents who do have children struggling with maintaining a healthy weight or lifestyle when it comes to their diet and fitness, Wellspring Camps can help.
Wellspring Camps is the nation’s leading provider of weight loss, health & wellness camps for children and teens, offering a proven scientific approach to diet and lifestyle management. Their approach is comprehensive, with the goal of long term health and weight loss taught in a way that is also very fun and invigorating. Wellspring Camps offers a set of core activities in an outdoor environment that the campers love and embrace, resulting in an average loss of 4 lbs a week and more than 30 lbs over eight weeks!
Fun activities such as aerobics kickboxing, white water rafting, scavenger hunts, surfing and tubing encourage campers to move in a way that is fun, and expose them to activities that they can continue on afterwards anywhere…it’s a lifestyle change. There is even guidance on how to eat healthier versions of favorite foods, how to shop healthier, and more. A highly qualified staff of healthcare professionals and instructors that includes psychologists, personal trainers, dietitians, and much more are ready to guide and coach children so they can make their own healthier choices on their own for the rest of their lives.

As someone who tried fad diets to lose weight, boring workout routines indoors that I just didn’t have the motivation to continue, and more, I know that infusing fun and a long term love for sports and activities, as well as an appreciation for a healthier diet that is still incredibly delicious, are really the keys to successful long term weight loss and a healthier outlook on life. Getting outdoors and moving makes you happier, eating nutritiously makes you feel good, and being healthy and fit increases your confidence…all of these together lead to increased self-esteem and a sense of overall wellness. Wellspring Camps can help children and teenagers on their own road to a life of healthier choices and more confidence for life.

I think this is such a great idea, and it’s so needed right now. More and more kids are way to heavy, and it will lead to some really bad health issues down the line.
You know what I love the most about this camp? The inclusion of emotional counseling. There are many physical reasons for obesity, but there are just as many mental and emotional reasons.
