Planning My Spring Garden

This post brought to you by Organic Choice. All opinions are 100% mine.

Last year was the first time I ever really gardened in my own yard (because it was the first time I ever had my own yard) and I enjoyed growing my own salad garden in a raised bed garden kit.

This year, I’m being more ambitious, and actually using my backyard ground to grow a vegetable garden, with Organic Choice, a line of fully organic gardening products. It’s better for the environment, and more importantly, it’s better for my family’s health. We can eat what we grow, and it will be grown responsibly and with a focus on good health, without worry about what chemicals are leaching into our food from our gardening products. In particular, I plan to pick up plenty of Miracle-Gro Organic Soil.

What will I be growing? Herbs, like oregano and basil and rosemary, and lots of vegetables. Of course I’m growing organic lettuce again, and this year I’m going to try red onions and cucumbers, since I love those veggies in my salads. I can eat a salad every day for lunch, and I’ll be eating my own humbly, but proudly, homegrown ingredients that are all natural and safe, and offering them to my family as well.

Miracle-Gro Organic Choice is availabe at major retailers in select markets, and if you have a green thumb yourself, I’m sure you want to give your family the best as well with organic products. In addition to Organic Soil, Miracle-Gro Organic Choice offers Organic Plant Food and Organic Potting Mix. This year I’m also going to start creating more one-pot cooking recipes, like casseroles and paellas, and my veggies will be utterly wonderful in these (can’t wait to share some recipes!).

  • I’m getting ready to plan my garden, too! Someone recommended the Burpee Garden App to help you plan and know when to plan what for your area.

  • I can’t wait for our garden to be ready to plant and start seeing produce!!! Nothing like fresh veggies!

  • I will just have a flower garden… Time to get to the store and start planting.

  • This is the first year in so long not having a Spring garden, I have used Miracle Gro for many years!

I don’t plant flowers anymore since I have a black thumb, but I can’t wait to plant a small vegetable and herb garden this spring!

  • We’ve been planning too. Wishing for a greenhouse and tractor though! Not to mention the ground to thaw and the snow to disappear…

  • I got so caught up putting in new flower beds last year that I ran out of steam when it came time to expand my veggie garden. This year I want to add another raised bed & a spiral herb garden.

  • You are so going to love the fresh veggies. If you like and have room for zucchini you should plant one – believe me only one will be enough. Tomato plants are great too. My girls love munching on grape tomatoes straight from the plant.

I actually love fried zucchini, and I didn’t know a single plant produces a lot. My dad grew zucchini (and I never checked that particular plant out) and we loved eating the produce from it!

What is a spiral herb garden? If you blog about it I want to come check it out.

Do you have space for a greenhouse? That would be pretty awesome.

  • I can’t wait until I move out of my apartment (hopefully this summer and into a house, because that is one thing that I miss: gardening! I never attempted growing herbs, such as basil (my favorite), fruits, or vegetables, but it’s definitely something I’d love to do someday. 🙂

  • I really wish I had a green thumb!!! I want to grow a garden so badly.

  • I am excited for you to share your recipes with food from your garden!!

  • Good luck with your garden! I hope you get lots of goodies this year.

  • I’m going to give a try at a Spring garden this year. I’ll definitely want to use these organic products.

  • In the twenty years we’ve been married, I’ve never had a garden. I’ve actually found it unnecessary since we’ve always had friends and family to share with us 😉

My dad is one of those people…he grew a lot of tomatoes and shared them with family and friends, so each year every family would received almost two dozen fresh, delicious, enormous red tomatoes 🙂
