Decorating For Our First Christmas

It’s our first home, and the first Christmas in our new home. The first strand of garland, the first sprig of mistletoe, the first time our sons ever decorated for the holidays, making it that much more special and memorable. This was definitely the most fun I ever had decorating for Christmas!

I took photos of our day decorating and playing together, and created a collage to print out with the Canon PIXMA MG7120 Wireless Color Photo Printer. Between my sons wearing their Christmas stockings on their short little legs and thinking that was the most hysterical thing ever, and finally getting some shots together in front of the tree (I was actually in a few this time, thanks to hubby taking over camera duty for a couple minutes), I think we captured it well, so we can look back and laugh over it all for years to come.

Here is a picture of the printout of the collage I made for my son’s scrap book, printed out in vibrant color with the Canon PIXMA MG7120:

We have to make sure all our decorations are child friendly, because we have curious boys, so we decorate our home for the holidays with flameless candles, fiberglass lights, faux mistletoe, and a fire-safety rated artificial tree…it’s all beautiful, and toddler-proof. Nothing dangerous if it’s eaten, nothing to get tangled in, and nothing to break if it falls. And since the baby likes to eat paper, it’s good that the collage is reprintable.

The Canon PIXMA MG7120 works with the PIXMA Cloud app, which allows it to print from almost any device you own, without needing a computer. That means you can print from your smart phone, tablet, etc and get your images or documents right away- awesome! I typically print out photo collages for our scrap booking, recipes I love and want to add to my recipe binder, and online workshops I take so I can bring them along with me to read when I find myself waiting in an office or for school to let out. I love that the images are so colorful, it makes the foods more appealing and family photos that much more wonderful to look at.

We received the Canon PIXMA MG7120 in white (shown below), which features a touch screen and sleek, space saving design:

I absolutely love that photo collage. You captured some beautiful moments.

  • Your photos came out ah-mazing!

  • What a great printer, I love this collage that you made. I also like that everything is so kid friendly when it comes to decorating. We are going to have to be that way again next year when we have a toddler.

  • I just printed out some photos today using my Canon PIXMA. They came out great!

  • That collage that you made looks great, and I love your stockings! Very cute.

  • You are SUCH a creative photographer- I always envy how you can capture objects like the ornaments or the garland. Also I totally laughed out loud about the baby eating the collage!

  • Ha — my boys did the SAME thing when we got our stockings out. 🙂

    Gorgeous collage!

  • I love this idea. I think I will do a collage from our Christmas pictures and maybe frame it.

  • Such beautiful pictures to treasure forever! <3

  • Lovely collage. Congrats on your 1st year in your new home.

  • Oh I love that you can print through a ‘cloud.’ I often want to print things from my phone and have to go through three or four different steps in order to do that.

I don’t think I’ve ever owned or used a Canon printer. I’d be curious about whether they’re better than the old HP printer we have.

  • All those firsts…beautiful!

  • Love your collage and I totally love my Canon printer it has the best quality out of all the printers I own.

  • Great collage! I decided not to decorate this holiday season, mostly due to the fact that my daughter would probably have had knocked down the Christmas tree within no time (and would have had too much fun with the ornaments). She’s at the stage! 🙂

  • That printer is really neat! Love the collage feature.

  • Such gorgeous photos of beautiful memories. I was just able to start adding fragile ornaments back onto my tree a few years ago, now that the boys are older. They have such beautiful child safe ornaments now though, not like the plain ugly ones they used to.

You are right, I should look for some child friendly ornaments that they will enjoy helping me put up next year!

  • Love all the pictures great way to save memories to look back at :-)! Love it!!

  • I love your decorations. I have the a Pixma printer and I love it.

  • I love the collage – what a fun way to remember the holidays!
