My husband has a pretty thick beard, and goes through a lot of razors a month. It’s actually a major part of our expenses, because in addition to shaving his face daily, he also shaves his head twice a week (no surprise to those of you who have seen his photos). He has a Mr. Clean thing going on, a very clean cut look apropo for his job. So, I figured it was something we just had to deal with.
Then we learned about the SensoTouch 3D Wet and Dry Electric Razor through a Norelco twitter party, and had the opportunity to try it out.

The SensoTouch 3D Wet and Dry Electric Razor features a GyroFlex 3D system with three independantly moving shaving heads that follow the contours of a man’s face, flexing in and out and even pivoting. They follow specialized tracks so they can catch every hair, and lift each hair to shave below the skin surface.

The shaving heads pop open to make it easy to clean, and the touch screen display on the handle lets you know how much time is left on the charge. It’s 45 minutes (for some reason both the 4 and 5 would not show up in my photographs, but it’s a neat feature that lets you know when you need to recharge so you aren’t stuck in the middle of a shaving session):

The first time my husband used it, he shaved for 15 minutes, which is longer than he usually shaves. He tried using it dry, and the literature said that it can take up to 21 days for skin to get used to this new system. There may be some redness and irritation in the interim, and it was true in our case. I don’t know if it would have been less had he used it wet, but it can be used either way, and we’ll be updating as he uses it to see the results after this time period.

We have our fingers crossed that this is the answer to my husband’s excess hirsuitness- the replacement razors for the SensoTouch 3D Wet And Dry Electric Razor are only about $60 and last 6-12 months, so it would save us a lot of money. Stay tuned for our update next month!
We received the product featured in this post for the purpose of review.

That razor looks totally amazing!
I will look forward to seeing your next review!! That is a big savings!
I have a house full of boys, but only two are shaving. It’s amazing the amount of money I spend on razors for them.
wow not sure if my hubby would handle the redness on his skin. i wonder if it gets better with use. I think its a close shave but it could get closer. how did your hubby feel about this compared to what he normally uses?
I’m interested to see how he likes it..My husband is looking for a new razor.
He felt like it’s not as close a shave yet. It says it can take up to several weeks for the skin to acclimate to it so that you see the same results, so we have to wait and see. It may just be something men have to go through if they want to make the switch to non-disposable razors.
I’m very interested to read your update. My husband has to shave daily as well, and usually shaves in the shower to save time, so this razor would be wonderful!
My husband only uses an electric shaver – he doesn’t go the complete “Mr. Clean” look on his head, but we cut it really close using clippers (and by we I mean we) – I’d be worried for him to use a straight edge razor, it would probably look like a horror movie in our bathroom if he attempted that!
My husband has this and uses it on face and head as well. It does get better and the redness will subside to nothing once he uses it more often!
I bet my husband would like this… he has used an electric razor/shaver for awhile now, but his is dry only.
That is what we are expecting, and it will make things so much better at that point! I love how affordable the replacement razors are.
I’ve been wanting to get my husband an electric razor. Thanks for the review. I’m going to look further into this one.
I can’t wait to see how this razor works out for your husband. My husband shaves his head too but every other day so we also go through a lot of razors. At this point he’s considering laser hair removal because of the time and expense but it seems that’s still pretty controversial being so close to the brain.
I hope his skin adjusts quickly to the change, because wow what a savings it could be. I gave my son a very similar one and he likes it quite a bit for his face, however, he’s a kid who cares little about scruff, so I’m pretty sure he’s a shave once a week or so kinda guy.
I think that is awesome that you can get it wet and even take it in the shower.
Looking forward to the update. (Does it happen to work on women’s underarms and legs?)
You know, I’m not sure. I didn’t try it (I had those body parts lasered years ago and no hair to test with) but I imagine it would contour well. I don’t think I’d want to suffer the redness during the warm months on my legs though (it’s too hot to cover them up)
This sounds great! My husband goes through A LOT of razors, too.
That pop up feature is seriously awesome. Hopefully he builds up a tolerance to the irritation.
Looks like something my fiance would love.
That is one nice looking razor, definitely looks like it gives a close shave. I need to get one of these for Matt, his current razor is less than great.
My hubby has never been able to shave dry either, it’s just to irritating on his skin. I like that you can use this razor wet or dry, and it seems to get a fairly close shave for an electric razor.
My husband only dry shaves so I wonder how this would work for him. It looks like a good one.
That’s good that it’s so easy to keep clean. I’m interested to hear future results.
My husband has one and uses it often.
I like that it can be used either wet or dry.
This looks like a wonderful razor to have!! Love all the pictures!
I think my hubby would like this!
I’d love to try one of these out. After all these years of shaving I still haven’t found my *perfect* solution, but electric rotaries like this are my favs so far. This one certainly looks awesome.
My husband has an electric razor but rarely uses it. I love how easy this one looks to clean.
My husband just joined a razor club which has helped him maintain a clean shave.
My husband would love this.
My husband really likes this razor. It’s helping his sensitive skin quite a bit. I hope it works out for your husband too!
My dad has always used something similar for as long as I can remember — but, wow…. tht really got him red. Hope it doesn’t keep that up each time he uses it.
I bet it would be less irritating with a wet shave.
Looks like a close shave!
That’s the razor my husband was using before he decided to start trimming {instead of shaving} his facial hair- he loved it!
My husband has this razor– I think he likes it.
I told my husband about this and he went to purchase one, thanks!
Wow that pop out feature is really neat.
I think it did great job and I would expect redness after the 1st use
Looks great. I am interested in seeing the future results!
