Our Memorial Day was wonderful, a fun family day filled with great weather, happy, running children, delicious food, and relaxing in the shade with family and friends. My favorite times are these long weekends spent getting together with those I love most, enjoying good food and good times.
We came up with some new recipes for our celebrations this year, including pulled beef burgers topped with non-dairy cole slaw (a mix of veggies and apple- who knew apples could taste so good in a slaw?), mini-beef tacos topped with scallions and vegan sour cream, and stuffed mushrooms with a little zing added via some minced jalapenos- wow, those are good! We are all on a healthy kick, actually have been for years, and it’s evolving into even healthier, tastier foods as the time passes. I think we have fun trying to outdo ourselves with each new holiday!
And of course, we served some traditional favorites, like Hebrew National beef hotdogs, topped with classic fixings like ketchup, mustard, onions, and a medley of veggies.

This summer we are looking forward to lots more family celebrations, especially now that we are creating a patio in our backyard and getting a new bbq grill- this means lots of family get togethers, parties, celebrations, fun summer days, and delicious grilled food! Love the summer!
