For new moms, things can get pretty hectic pretty fast. It’s unbelievable how easy it is to lose track of what has to be done when, and when little man was first born, I struggled to not only remember when to do routine things (like feed him on schedule, because newborns who are breastfed need to be fed every 2-3 hours like clockwork), but to remember to keep track of what to remember. With as little sleep as any new mom knows we get, it was very, very easy to mix things up and totally forget other things.
I tried keeping a schedule, with manually drawn columns, of when I fed little man, changed him, put him to sleep, etc, but very quickly my writing became jumbled up with so much to keep track of, and I couldn’t read any of my 4 am chicken scratch the next day. The thing I forgot most often was which side I last fed little man on…a big problem, because I was struggling with clogged ducts, and couldn’t afford to make mistakes and suffer one side being neglected for two feedings.
Luckily, I had the opportunity to try out the Itzbeen. It’s a little gadget for moms that keeps track, by way of multiple timers, of how long “Itzbeen” since I last fed little man, changed him, put him to sleep, etc. It has four timers that learn your patterns, and eventually let you know if the time for something is past due (the button turns red, and there is an alarm beep as well). There is also a little switch that helps you keep track of which side you last nursed on, so the Itzbeen basically helps you keep track of five things at once. The fourth timer is a miscellaneous timer, for things like giving medicine or whatever else you need to keep track of.
Buy it! The Itzbeen baby monitor is available on Amazon with free shipping, and at many fine baby retail stores.
Win it! A follower of Penelope’s Oasis is eligible to win a Itzbeen of their own. To enter, please leave a comment below telling me what your favorite feature of the Itzbeen is.

I love the fact that you can even take this on the go. Something like this would be perfect when I babysit my nephew. It would make it easier for his parents and I to stay on the same track ๐

Being able to choose the color is a handy feature, especially for parents of multiples who may want to keep track of each baby.
I love that it is a great way to communicate with caretakers and even between parents the time it has been and when the baby will need something. Thanks for the chance, justicecw@hotmail.com

I especially love the clip and the light. Those are the two things that make it super convenient! I tried keeping written records with my now two year old and it was hard. I had to keep the pad near me and I would sometimes misplace it and writing night time info was a pain! My newest addition is due in 3 months so this would be so helpful!

I like that the timer learns patterns and warns when something is overdue. I already have this in my gift registry. I really hope to get one.
My favorite feature is Nursing Reminder Switch โ easily reminds mom which side baby nursed from last.

I'd love to win this for the parents (my friends) of my surrogate son who is due in June. I remember being a new mom (once to twins!) and forgetting countless times when the last time I changed a diaper was. Yes, you can feel the diaper, but I didn't want to tempt waking a sleeping baby sometimes!!
THANK YOU!! alisonad23 at gmail dot com
I love that it has so many timers. After my c-section, I used the bonus timer to keep track of my own pain meds! The itzbeen was a lifesaver for me and I give one at every single baby shower I go to now!
