I recently heard of a campaign to force a major food manufacturer to stop using unhealthy dyes in their products, and some people are shocked at the prospect of actually being able to do this. I thought “It’s about time”. It’s really about time we all stop and think about what we are putting on and in our bodies. Eating and washing are two basic human activities that should benefit us, yet we can be harming ourselves when we buy the wrong products (and we don’t even know it). For this reason, learning about and supporting companies like seventh generation that care about our health and the earth is something we should all make a priority. We don’t have to just take what is handed to us…we should reconsider our options and make conscious choices.
I recently started to try out some new personal products from seventh generation: a body wash, skin lotion, body soap bar, facial cleansing cloths, and hand wash. They are created to be safe for our use, as well as effective and enjoyable, and they really are. - Mandarin Purifying Hand Wash– I love fruity fragrances, so this is a real treat to use, and I pretty much tossed all my other hand washes to the side (wasteful, I know, but they have so many chemicals and just don’t smell as good)
- Lavender Soothing Facial Cleansing Cloths– these are so beyond awesome for taking off my makeup. It’s honestly probably the best facial wipes I’ve ever used. They don’t sting, or dry out my skin, and do a great job of removing my eye makeup- love, love, love!!!!!
- Chamomile Sensitive Skin Lotion– it’s a sensitive care lotion, which may be why it does such a great job of hydrating my delicate, winter skin. It’s creamy and rich and keeps my hands soft in between washing dishes and everything else I do
If you are looking to simplify your family’s skin care routine, to get down to the basics of what will safely cleanse, care for, and nourish their skin, try these out. It’s incredibly hard to find products that keep skin healthy while working well and being environmentally friendly, and these smell and feel so incredible as well. Just toss those chemically products out like I did, and keep everything you put on your shelves and medicine cabinets cleaner, simpler, healthier, better.
