Ecostore USA, an extension of the original New Zealand-based Ecostore, offers a range of eco-friendly, plant-based cleaning products for the home, as well as body and baby care products that are free of toxic chemicals.
They claim to be as effective as leading supermarket brands, but I find their earth friendly dishwashing liquid to be even better. Not only does the eco friendly dish soap suds up fabulously, but it doesn’t dry out my hands (and I wash dishes about four times a day), leave any kind of residue, or have any fragrance. I have been using it to wash my son’s bottle feeding supplies also, because it’s free of petrochemicals, phosphates, nitrates, EDTA, sodium lauryl sulfate, dyes, and perfumes. It’s also terrific at cutting grease (I use lots of olive oil in my cooking). What is does contain is plant-based surfactants, mineral hydroxide, and citrus oil (and that’s it).
Most of Ecostore products are concentrated, to help save the customer money so they can afford more natural, green products. A little goes a long way, and they don’t use cheap fillers or bulking agents to make it appear as though there is more product. I had the opportunity to try out their kitchen Dishwash Liquid and their citrus-based Spray Cleaner. The eco friendly spray window cleaner is made with the zest of citrus peel, plant-based surfactants, a fatty acid derivative, and ethanol. I always use natural products to clean my home, especially now that I have a son who has begun attempts at crawling. Unfortunately, when it comes to spray cleaners, natural products tend to leave streaks (usually because they use natural oils in their product). As a result, I tried using a home-made vinegar window cleaning solution recipe to clean our mirrors and windows, but my husband hates the smell. Ecostore’s naturally antibacterial Spray Glass Cleaner does a great job of cleaning the glass surfaces in my home without leaving streaks.
