Little man starts school in a few weeks, and I have to admit, one of my biggest concern is germs. I am a super clean person who keeps a super clean home, with antibacterial soap everywhere, and I’m not fond of the idea of him getting sick from other kids (he has only been sick once in his three years, and it was after a play date). The idea of all those germy door knobs, desk tops, and toys, blech!
I already know I plan to arm him with Wet Ones in his backpack and lunch box, and I need to teach him to wipe his hands with a Wet Ones wipe before and after he eats, as well as during the day if his hands get dirty. I think the biggest challenge will be making him aware of other times Wet Ones will come in handy. When children play together and share, they tend to not be that cautious about who puts what in their mouth before passing it along, and it’s estimated that 80% percent of all infectious diseases are transmitted through hands.
In addition to explaining that he should keep his hands away from his mouth as much as possible unless he washed them first, he basically just needs to be in the habit of freely using Wet Ones to keep himself clean anytime the need arises. I personally use them all the time, have them in my purse and car, so this shouldn’t be hard to do as it’s already part of our routine. Wet Ones Antibacterial Wipes kill 99.99% of germs, and come in canisters, travel packs, and individually wrapped single wipes (just as effective as gel hand sanitizers, except better because they also wipe away dirt and grime, and those gel sanitizers just move the dirt around on hands- eew).

Wet ones are super important for preschool – and also for older kids too! I have a box in my daughter’s book bag already. High school? LOTS of germs!
Oh the innocence of children and sharing! It’s just no wonder they get sick as often as they do!

My kids all had wet wipes all through school, my daughter started using hand sanitizer’s in Junior High that she carried in her purse.
It’s hard, especially when they aren’t in your care. Just equip him with what he needs and send constant reminders to him and his teacher 😉

I teach my children to wash their hands, but I have never been one that worried about germs. I mean don’t get me wrong when I see babies chewing on shopping cart handles I cringe but I think overall kids will bring home their share of sickies.
I have one child that was sick constantly and the other two rarely get sick. I guess they just have a better immune system.

Germs are such an icky part of school. I try to teach my children to wash their hands frequently, use sanitizer in class and I even go so far as to include a mini hand sanitizer in their lunchboxes each day!
