What Hilarious Habits Does Your Significant Other (Try To) Hide? #HopeSprings

Funny habits…we all have them, and if you are married, you are also privy to a lot of your significant other’s more secret habits and routines that they manage to hide from the rest of the world. In a happy marriage, you obviously accept your spouse’s idiosyncrasies as part of them (and love ’em), but that doesn’t make them any less amusing.

My husband is one heck of a wonderful dude, and he has some hilariously funny habits that I didn’t discover until after we were married. Things like checking the front door five times before going to bed to make sure it’s locked. Or removing items from his pockets (to put on his valet) one slow piece at a time, examining each to make sure everything is working and in proper order. He is a man of habit and routine, you see, and doesn’t let anything throw him off track.

My husband’s funniest habit is probably his obsession with shoe polish. He polishes whatever pair of shoes he is wearing, every single day that he wears it. So he polishes shoes every single day (even his hiking boots), and it takes about five minutes. When I say my husband takes longer to get ready for the day than I do, I’m not kidding.

It’s a good thing he is a great husband and we have a happy marriage (and we have a similar sense of humor), because otherwise I think I would have moved to another floor by now to avoid watching these daily regimens of order. Instead, I find his funny habits all hysterical, and since I know how long he takes to do these things, I time myself around them. He won’t change, he’s had these habits for years, and they are harmless (they drive his mother and mother-in-law up a wall though).

I love romantic comedies, so I’m really excited to see Hope Springs starring Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones about a couple in a happy marriage who goes through the same challenges we all do. Steve Carell is their marriage counselor, so I expect that this will be utterly hysterical, and just can’t wait until I can go with the gals and have a fun girls night out watching it. You can “Like” Hope Springs on Facebook to follow along, or find them on Pinterest (some silly pins about marriage that we can all understand!).
