Reconnecting Over A Cup Of Nog

The holiday season is a time of reflection for many of us, and this year I’ve been considering how I’ve been spending my time. My sons are already both in school, and it won’t be long before they’re off on their own one day. While I’m enjoying my days, it seems it all passes so quickly, so now, I’m looking for ways to slow down, and enjoy these moments more fully every day.

Because of this, my husband and I started a new ritual. We wake up a little earlier each morning, and sit together quietly in our living room with the sunlight streaming in, reading a newspaper or magazine and sipping on some Silk Holiday Nog. It’s not something we can do throughout the year, because the daylight changes, our schedules change, and our routines change, but during the holiday season, when the days are shorter and the weather colder, we cherish these early mornings together before our day starts.

And in the evening, we put our sons to sleep a little earlier, than sit together quietly again, and enjoy some delicious Silk Pumpkin Spice Almond Nog. Silk offers Silk Soy Nog Original, Silk Almond Nog Original, and Silk Almond Nog Pumpkin Spice (my favorite- it doesn’t need anything added to make it more perfect), and all Silk Nogs are dairy-free and gluten free. It reminds me of the delicious spicy cinnamon and nutmeg drinks I enjoyed as a child, and makes our time together a little more cozy and savory.

This is our new tradition during the holiday season, a way to slow down and reconnect during the busyness of it all, and to enjoy some time along, an elusive thing for many parents!

During Christmas and New Year, we love to serve our guests a delicious Nog, and since not everyone can tolerate eggs or dairy, Silk Nogs are perfect for holiday parties. They also don’t have any saturated fat and have 80 calories or less per serving, so you can enjoy them without guilt 😉
