There’s nothing sweeter than those last few minutes before bedtime with your children. The bedtime stories, sweet songs, and tender snuggles make all of the woes of the day slip away. As much as I adore our nightly routine, I love that my husband gets to enjoy it also. Story time is his favorite time of day, too.
With Father’s Day quickly approaching, I wanted to find books that celebrate the role of fatherhood.
Because I’m Your Dad by Ahmet Zappa – Dads can be so much fun. Written by Ahmet Zappa, son of Frank Zappa, this silly monster story will be a hit with your little monsters.
Darth Vadar and Son by Jeffrey Brown – “Luke, I am your father.” Darth is just a regular dad, and this series of books will bring galaxies of fun.
How to Babysit a Grandpa by Jean Reagan – Don’t forget Grandpa on Father’s Day! This humorous how-to features the special bond between grandpa and his grandchildren.
The Night Before Father’s Day by Natasha Wing – Similar to Twas the Night Before Christmas, this sweet rhyming tale helps us remember all the fun of Father’s Day.
Just the Two of Us by Will Smith – You know you can still remember all the words to the Will Smith song. The lyrics are beautifully illustrated, and showcase a loving relationship between father and son.
Tyrannosaurus Dad by Liz Rosenberg – A busy Tyrannosaurus for a father is the lead in this story. Will he be able to make it in time to the big game?
Just Me and My Dad by Mercer Mayer – The Little Critter books take me back to my own childhood. Even though things don’t always go just right on their camping trip, this sweet story shows a softer side of fatherhood.
