Myrtle Beach is a wonderful family travel destination, and if our fun time at the Embassy Suites Oceanfront Resort and our waterpark adventures and evening at Medieval Times didn’t convince you, let me share what other fun activities and places we enjoyed during our stay at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!
Ripley’s Aquarium
We visited the beautiful Ripley’s Aquarium, which had panoramic views along the side of multiple aquarium halls and along the ceilings too, so we saw beautiful sea life swimming overhead and all around us, glowing in the beautiful light as they moved about.

Wonderworks
We visited Wonderworks, home of over 100 interactive science exhibits that is more like a hands on amusement park. Test your IQ, dare yourself to try wild and possibly dangerous activities, pit the power of your brain waves against your companion, or pull yourself up to the ceiling with nothing but willpower and some rope and pulleys- and see if you can master the many tests of body and brain skill! There were exhibits geared toward all age groups, so kids and adults will be challenged and entertained.

I even lay on a bed of nails!! (My arms carried the indentations of the nails for a long while after, those things are sharp!)

The Market Common
Finally, we enjoyed a relaxing evening in the Market Commons, a development that opened on the site of a former air force base in 2008 and is now a spot where people live, work, and enjoy life with lots of local shopping and dining options, and more fun things to do.

We called a friend we knew moved to Myrtle Beach after he retired a few months ago, while we were at the Nacho Hippo at the Market Common, and let him know we were there. He replied “The Market Common is where I live!” so he biked over to us with his daughter and we all strolled over to an ice cream shop, next to a movie theater and past book stores and some of my favorite shops, to enjoy the warm evening with some cool ice cream. It was easy to see why he chose to retire here, and I called my parents to let them know it’s a spot for them to check out too.
Myrtle Beach is a great vacation spot! I’m due for a trip there! You got some amazing photos!
That upside down building with the trees growing downward is so cool. Fantastic news always to call a friend and find out they are literally blocks away and will come to see you. Thanks for the great pictures and descriptions of interesting things to see in Myrtle Beach SC.
Myrtle Beach is a great place for families. We love the aquarium.
