Fun can be very messy, and since I won’t be a party pooper, I just have to get with the program and dive right in when my family wants to have water balloon fights on wet grass, or finger paint in their school clothes, or run through the woods barefoot. It’s fun for them!
I have little kids, and I want them to enjoy their childhoods. I love that they do something I never really got to do as a kid – be messy, and never really worry about it. We are all washable, so what’s a little dirt and paint? 1. Keep clutter at bay by returning everything to its place when you are done with it. This is one of the best habits to cultivate if you find yourself constantly facing piles of things on every flat surface of the house.
2. If you have areas of the house that tend to be magnets for clutter (kitchen counters, the dining room table, etc), instead, dedicate a clutter basket. If you really just don’t have time to put something away now, throw it into the clutter basket (located somewhere central in the house to be easy to get to) and each night, spend a few minutes putting everything away.
