Still on the hunt for the perfect camera bag for women, I recently tried Theit Camera bag (the name is a play on words- it’s The “It” bag). It has a unique look for women looking for a pretty camera bag, and doesn’t look like it carries expensive camera gear (one of my requirements for my camera bag), so I was definitely excited to get one of these trendy camera bags in my hands.
Made in China, shipped from Canada, Theit Bag is made of quilted faux-leather and features two ways to carry it- a shoulder chain strap or two smaller handles that are really best worn over the forearm (but can fit over the shoulder if you are wearing just a light shirt). There are three outside pockets, one inside pocket, and the removeable camera insert inside has several dividers that can be moved around to suit your needs.
The Good:
1. Theit Camera Bag offers a unique look in a world of limited camera bag options. I love the look of quilted leather and chain straps, and I also like the neutral color of the inside, so overall I’m happy with how Theit Bag looks and think it’s more attractive than most camera bags for women.
2. It’s very roomy. Inside, everything fits, and it all fits well. This is the one aspect that I really love, because I need to have a camera bag that fits my busy mom life and can help keep me organized too. My camera, wallet, phone, keys, and other assorted items all fit inside.
3. The chain shoulder strap of Theit Camera Bag is detachable and the camera insert is completely removeable from the bag, turning it into a regular handbag if you don’t want to use it as a camera bag anymore.
The Bad:
1. The chain shoulder strap, fully adjusted to its shortest length, is still way too long on me (I’m 5’4″ and it reaches to the top of my thighs at it’s shortest length). I can’t imagine anyone being able to use it fully extended, as it would reach to their knees! It was the deciding factor for me buying this bag, because I love chain straps, and it turns out it’s not even functional for me until I have it shortened. The other option (carrying it with the handles over the forearm) isn’t practical for photographers who need their hands to be free to shoot.
2. There isn’t any protective padding. This one stumps me. It’s not padded to protect camera gear anywhere. It has individual dividers in the camera insert, but neither the dividers or the insert is padded at all. It feels like cardboard or heavy cardstock covered in fabric, and likewise for the bag itself- no padding at all. All Theit Bag does is organize your camera gear, but doesn’t really protect it. I have to keep my camera in the center with a diaper on either side to protect it in case I drop the bag.
The verdict:
Theit Bag is a stylish and pretty camera bag for women that doesn’t look like a camera bag, with lots of room, and Theit Bag in this review sells for about $159. You should be willing to buy a new insert with protective padding for your camera and gear if you decide to buy it. This isn’t a camera bag for a professional photographer carrying expensive camera bodies and lenses that need protecting, or who need their hands and arms to be very mobile, but for momtgraphers it’s a cute option. A new camera insert usually can be found for about $40, so together investing in this bag will cost just under $200 without including shipping from Canada, on the higher end for camera bags for women.
I love the look of this bag. I really want a camera bag that’s not as bulky as the one that came with my camera.. Too bad about the chain, I’m 5’2″ so it would be really long on me.

I recently got a DSLR camera and I was looking for a bag that would protect it good and look cute!! I love the quilted look of the bag too, I have a purse that is very similar. I wish it had more padding because I would be all over this bag!
I love this, it is a really chic bag and not too bulky. So many camera bags are huge with a ton of room for all sorts of other things. I just need something big enough for my camera.
I had to do a double take when I saw the name of this camera bag. Just scrolling through the articles I saw it out of the corner of my eye and saw “Theft” bag instead of Theit. Kind of puts a person off when that’s what they want you to put your extremely expensive photography equipment inside.
That is one stylish camera bag it looks like a stylish purse.

I really like the look of this camera bag, but the lack of padding is what gets me. Hopefully, they’ll invest in creating padding for their camera bags in the future. 🙂

That bag is adorable! One thing that makes a bag a ‘camera’ bag is the padding so I’m sad to hear it didn’t have any of that. Thanks for sharing that point as that’s a HUGE factor in dishing out cash for a camera bag.
My sister has been searching for the perfect camera bag as well. I know she’d love the style of this one, and since she’s 5’9 the long chain wouldn’t be an issue, but lack of padding may be a bit too risky for her liking.

I think it’s awfully strange that a camera bag would not offer any type of padding protection for the contents inside. It’s a shame because it is a nice-looking bag.
I would agree about the padding. I would throw my travel point and shoot in there and use the bag as a purse, but for the expensive stuff, it wouldn’t be practical. It’s really pretty though!

The padding would probably be a deal breaker for me. Without it, I could just use any large bag to plop my camera into. Being roomy is definitely a perk though.
