It’s autumn, so my taste buds have been craving flavors with a little more spice. I finally managed to find some International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer, and it was worth the wait… I made to stock up! I love pumpkin in everything, and pumpkin pie is my favorite, so I couldn’t wait to try it in my morning coffee.
Then I thought, well…my kids like pumpkin pie too, so, why not put a little in their hot chocolate and cocoa drinks? And I did, and they loved it.
To make our Pumpkin Pie Spice Hot Cocoa, we simply made a cup of hot cocoa or hot chocolate for each by dissolving a packet of hot chocolate in a cup of hot water, and added in 2 tablespoons of International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice. We stirred it together and popped some mini marshmallows on top.

And of course, we had a little fun with it. Little man loves big marshmallows, and he is learning to read, starting with “sight words”, so I use an edible food marker to write some words he is learning on the big marshmallows. Everytime he gets the word right (and so far he is getting them all right) I pop those marshmallow into his Pumpkin Pie Spice hot cocoa.

International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice is a seasonal drink, but I am betting it would be a terrific ingredient in many of my favorite recipes that call for milk. Banana Nut Muffins made with International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice instead of milk sounds divine, and that is just one recipe. I think I’m on to something, I’m going to try it and let you know how it goes! I really don’t think too many people would use plain old milk for much once they get creative and add in some tasty alternatives that really spice up foods and treats and take them to the next level of delicious.
