Mother’s Day is coming up, and holidays that honor important people in our lives just bring out the sentimental side of me. It makes me think about someone special, and what they mean to me. Sometimes we don’t really express often enough how much we value someone, or share our feelings with others, and that is really a shame.
So I wrote a Moem. What is a #Moem? It’s a tribute to mom, a “mom poem”. written and posted on social channels in 135 characters or less (bonus points if it rhymes). Not only is this a cute way to honor mom, but I’m helping a great cause.
MetLife wants to honor moms with a charitable donation to Dress for Success Worldwide, an organization that helps low-income women achieve economic independence by supporting them in their search for professional employment. Dress For Success helps women support their families and be better moms, and every #moem you share to honor your mom up to midnight on Mother’s Day will result in another $10 donation to Dress For Success by MetLife…their goal is $50,000.
Need help making your moem? Try the Moem Maker at www.moemmaker.com for some help getting started, and then you can post your tribute to Mom on your social media with the hashtag #Moem for everyone to see, while helping to raise funds for mothers in need. I want to help MetLife reach their goal, so I created a #Moem with Moem Maker:
and I just tweeted it. My simple tweet gave another $10 to help other moms…won’t you take a moment to tweet a #moem this Mother’s Day to help support women too?
