When the weather gets colder, staying in a cozy, warm bed longer is a big treat. I wanted to start surprising my husband on brisk Saturday and holiday mornings with breakfast in bed, allowing him to stay cuddled up while enjoying his food…a total vacation from all those early morning work days he has to get up super early and head out into some bitter cold weather.
My husband loves International Delight coffee creamers in his morning coffee to start his day, and he has two favorites: Irish Creme Cafe and Pumpkin Pie Spice, so I let him pick (and sometimes I’ll make him a second cup with the other flavor too).
His perfect breakfast is scrambled eggs and bacon, a muffin, and of course, his flavored coffee. My ideal breakfast would be eggs with a side of banana walnut pancakes or an everything bagel with cream cheese, and I love my International Delight coffee with sugar and Pumpkin Pie Spice or Hazelnut creamer…yum! A food tray to serve breakfast in bed seems like a great idea for our sons on Christmas morning too, before they head down to open gifts.
It made me start thinking about what would make the perfect surprise breakfast tray…some eggs, a little bacon or sausage, maybe some pancakes or waffles, and of course a rich cup of delicious coffee, ideally in a holiday or seasonal flavor to keep us all in the holiday spirit. A selection of items would be great, because who knows what we’ll make up in the mood for. If I want us to enjoy breakfast in bed as a couple on a lazy Saturday morning, I could have some fresh, sweet fruit and a couple of muffins prepared the night before to enjoy in the morning, so we can lay back and be lazy together while watching the sun rise…I love these Autumn and Winter mornings!
What is the ideal breakfast you’d love to find on your breakfast tray? Do you treat your family to breakfast in bed? What’s your favorite International Delight coffee creamer flavor this time of year?
