Letters To My Sons {July 2013}

Where to begin?

You graduated from nursery school, which alone made me super proud and wistful, all at once. But you also transformed this year. You sing, you understand complicated concepts, you tell jokes, you remember everything, and you are sooo smart and funny. Who is this little man growing up so quickly right in front of my eyes? My little dude with the Angry Birds addiction who is already half as tall as I am.

You somersault around the house.

You speak adorably in two languages (with a lisp).

You have favorite movies, favorite scenes in movies, favorite lines in movies.

You understand what everyone around you is saying- we have to censor ourselves because you pick up everything and are way. too. clever.

You just amaze me.

Since once day you’ll be reading this, I want you to know:

Your favorite color is yellow. You love cars and Angry Birds and Curious George and playing with other kids. You actually look like Curious George to me, like the cutest little monkey ever, and I can’t resist your dimples, or when you spontaneously tell me “I love you mama”.

You got your first bike, and surprised me by showing me you already knew how to scoot around on a scooter.

I will always adore you,
Mama

  • Little man and my daughter would have so much in common! Whenever she grabs ahold of a phone, her first stop is PBS Kids for Curious George episodes. Although her favorite color is red – different colors for different temperaments?

  • Oh, I love lisps on little boys. Three out of four of mine had one.

  • Your letters always make me tear up. They are so genuine and heartfelt and those feelings just come off the post.

  • Your big boy is so precious and you can absolutely feel how much you love him through this letter.
