Have A Hectic Schedule? How to Keep a Clear Head

I have a pretty hectic schedule. I take care of three men, and the smaller they are, the more they need from me. I’m the cook, maid, chauffer, nanny, and more, all rolled into one. The only difference is I get paid in kisses, and that works just fine for me 🙂

(their kisses are better than gold)

Between making lunches, preschool, playdates, laundry, potty training, and the rest of it, I don’t have a lot of free time. I don’t mind this at all. The only time it gets difficult is when I feel like I’m being pulled in twenty different directions and can’t handle it all. For this reason, I learned I needed to plan everything out to get through the busyness of my days without losing my head.

I’m big on To Do lists. Sitting for five minutes a day to plan what I need to focus on is incredibly helpful. Between my lists of chores and my overall plan for the day, I tend to stay on track and get everything important done. If I don’t refer to my To Do list, nothing important gets done (and that isn’t an understatement).

Another thing that helps me is to have everything organized. If I’m not dealing with a mess or clutter, I’m not taking my time and focus away from things that need my attention. I can easily find what I need for what needs to be done. And staying organized and neat ensures I can continue this way.

Focusing on what I’m doing, instead of what else needs to be done (mentally absent) is important too. For example, I focus on helping my son with his homework and be in the moment with him, rather than thinking what I need to make for dinner. Or worse, burning dinner because I’m thinking about helping my son with his homework.

Finally, I need sleep! If I don’t get a decent amount of sleep, I can’t function, I forget things, I make mistakes. When I’m busy it is so tempting to stay up late and finish chores (and I’ve done this) but sleep is important to stay clear headed and focused. I always regret giving up sleep.

Mucinex® asked me to share how I stay clear headed on days my schedule is super hectic, and I agreed, now that I’m a non-food burning, clear headed expert.

Balancing a hectic schedule is hard enough. Trying to keep it together when you’re under the weather requires additional help. Maximum Strength* Mucinex® Sinus-Max™ Pressure & Pain triple action formula fights mucus, congestion, sinus pressure and headache/pain. With cold and flu season in full force, I am relieved to know that even my worst symptoms can’t derail my plans.
