This post brought to you by Walmart. All opinions are 100% mine.
Fifty million Americans this year won’t know where their next meal is coming from. September is Hunger Action Month, dedicated to helping those 1 in 6 Americans who are underfed. In Support of Hunger Action Month, Walmart is working with its customers, suppliers and associates to donate up to 53 million meals and $2.5 million for hunger relief through its Feeding America program.
My grandmother grew up very poor; missed meals and being underfed were a regular part of her youth. I was more fortunate, and never went unfed unless I just wasn’t around food at the moment. Even a few hours of hunger can be frustrating, so imagining what going days or weeks (or longer) in a state of constant hunger is pretty hard. I used to volunteer in a soup kitchen when I was in college, and remember how great it felt, especially during the busy Thanksgiving season, to see so many people come in for a delicious meal provided by the donations of time and money of compassionate people.
Through October 12th, customers of Walmart will be able to generate meal donations for Feeding America by purchasing select products from participating food suppliers (General Mills, Kellogs, Unilever, Kraft Foods, and ConAgra Foods) and either following instructions on the packaging, engaging in the “Give Meals” section of www.walmart.com/hunger, or using a mobile app to generate meal donations for Feeding America.
This means that just by purchasing select products, or watching a video or taking a survey on Walmart.com/hunger (look for the “Give Meals” section), or using an app at the store (just look for the Fighting Hunger Together” signs signs), you can take one product and turn it into 7 meals. I picked Unilever because I buy so many of their products for my family, and now my purchases can benefit hungry Americans.

Although I am fortunate enough to have never experienced an issue of hunger, it is a cause I am VERY passionate about. Since we live in the richest country in the world, there shouldn’t even be a single person hungry, period! I am glad that a big corporation like Walmart is helping to give back to those in need.
I’m happy to see Walmart is helping to fight hunger.
This is a great program they are doing and I love that they have made it so simple to participate and help those in need.
