I love to walk, especially outdoors in beautiful weather. My fitness goals include getting toned and increasing my metabolism to maintain my post-baby weight loss. This is why I joined the Toyota RAV4 Adventure Club group on MapMyFitness, to challenge myself to map out a local route to walk daily, and get out there and enjoy my city while getting fit.
How well do you know your own neighborhood? Do you ever just go out for a walk, pass by parks and check out local coffee houses and sites? There is a popular lake near my home that hundreds jog, bike or walk alongside daily. It has become so popular that a joggers trail has been added to keep track of your own fitness goals, indicating that every walk around is 0.7 miles. I recently went for a walk nearby with MapMyFitnes, and of course on such a beautiful day, many couples, groups, and individuals were doing likewise. There were geese in the water being fed by children, and the weeping willows were greeting the joggers alongside the paths.
I mapped a nearby route on MapMyFitness, and discovered an underpass where beautiful art was being painted by artists as part of a city beautification effort. It was a different fitness walk route for me, but motivated by my desire to get out there and see new things, I mapped an alternate path than I normally took. I was glad I did because I never saw this before and it was fun to watch urban artwork in the making.
